    Trivia

    • Alolan Graveler, along with its pre-evolved and evolved forms, are the only Pokémon with the dual Rock/electric-typing.
    • In Graveler's Pokémon Red and Green Version and Pokémon Red and Blue Version artwork, it is shown to have differently colored fingers, having dark gray fingers in its Red and Green artwork and brown fingers in its Red and Blue artwork. This was changed in later generations so that its fingers were the same color as its body, a change possibly brought by the Pokémon anime.

    Origin

Graveler appears to be based on a rock or boulder. It may also draw inspiration from four-armed deities of Hindu myths and legends. It may also be based on a yōkai known as the Tsuchikorobi, also called the "tumbling monster" that rolls down cliffs and squashes travelers in its way similar to a boulder.

Graveler's Alolan form appears to be a pun on a thunderegg, a crystalline rock similar to a geode that forms with volcanic ash layers. Its "hair" also appears to be based on magnetic sand.

    Etymology

Graveler likely comes from the word gravel, which are separated rock fragments.
