Trubbish

Trubbish (Japanese: ヤブクロン, HepburnYabukuron) (TRUB-bish[1]) is a Poison-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

Biology

Physiology

Trubbish is a bipedal Pokémon that resembles a small garbage bag overflowing with trash. Its body is dark green and lumpy. It has two long ear-like appendages atop its head that resemble the knot at the top of a filled garbage bag. It has two small stubby feet. On either side of its body it has a slimy grayish appendage that resembles garbage leaking out from inside. It has large round eyes and a frowning mouth with sharp teeth seen protruding from its upper jaw.

Behavior

Trubbish is formed by a chemical reaction caused by the mixture of garbage bags and industrial waste. Anyone who catches a whiff of Trubbish's stench will be knock out for a week or, rarely, sent to the hospital. Due to its insatiable appetite for garbage, Trubbish often follow people who always litter.

Even a living room that has been littered with trash can draw in Trubbish.

In the Alola region Trubbish and its evolution, Garbodor, are known to be prey of Alolan Grimer and Alolan Muk.

In the Galar region, Trubbish's belches are a delicacy to Galarian Weezing.

Evolution

Trubbish evolves into Garbodor at level 36.

Trivia

  • Trubbish shares some similarities with Grimer and Koffing:
    • All three are pure Poison types and represent a different type of pollution (Trubbish itself represents land pollution, Grimer represents liquid pollution, and Koffing represents air pollution).
    • All three evolve through level up.

Origin

Trubbish is based on an overflowing garbage bag. The tie at the top of its head resemble rabbit ears, possibly playing off of the term "dust bunny", a common name for clumps of lint and dust.

Etymology

Trubbish comes from trash, rubbish, and possibly trouble.

Its Japanese name, Yabukuron, is a portmanteau of 破く (yabuku, to rip), 袋 (fukuro, bag), and ブクブク (bukubuku, baggy).
