Kingambit (Japanese: ドドゲザン, Hepburn: Dodogezan) (kihn-GAM-bet[1]) is a Dark/Steel-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX. It is the final evolution of Pawniard.
Biology
Physiology
Much like their pre-evolved forms Bisharp and Pawniard, Kingambit has a helmet-like red and gray dome with a large blade protruding from it alongside massive crescent-shaped blades on its torso; however, they are much more massive. They have also grown a large "mustache" that is black in color with red edges. Its hands have also changed from chrome steel to a more gold appearance, fitting for its name. Unlike its pre-evolutions, Kingambit has noticeably grown a large amount of "hair" which it uses to navigate around.
Shiny Kingambit, much like their pre-evolved shiny forms, have the most of their red replaced with blue outside of their "mustache", which still retains the red edges. The torso changes from two layers of red to a layer of black and blue.
Behavior
Kingambit are well-known for being extremely powerful, having evolved from the strongest Bisharp. They can be seen similarly to a ruling warlord in a local area, as all the Bisharp and Pawniard will answer a Kingambit's call. Orders given from a Kingambit are respected and carried out without question, with the Bisharp knowing insubordination is not allowed. Kingambit are also very battle-hungry and won't stop until its desires are fulfilled.
Despite this, Kingambit are not particularly skilled strategists, as they rely more on numbers and raw strength to defeat enemies.
Natural abilities
Kingambit can exert brutish attacks by directly assaulting their enemies with their blades, evidenced by their signature move Kowtow Cleave. They can also use their long sturdy hair to ride on and traverse around. Kingambit also empowers itself whenever their stats are lowered via Defiant or when their allies fall via their unique ability Supreme Overlord.
Evolution
To obtain Kingambit, the player's Bisharp must have the Leader's Crest and defeat three other wild Bisharp who lead packs of Pawniard before leveling up.

Trivia
- Peculiarly, Kingambit "walks" by sliding on it's hair like a chair scooter, having one of the strangest walking animations in the game.
- Meanwhile, in its anime debut, it has demonstrated levitation powers.
- Kingambit's evolutionary line are the only Dark/Steel types. Due to this, they lack a double resistance to any other type.
- The official guide for Scarlet and Violet regarding evolving Bisharp into Kingambit states that the Bisharp "must hold a Leader's Crest and defeat three wild Bisharp that are also holding a Leader's Crest", when the former does not need to be true.
- Kingambit is the first Unova-originating cross-generational evolution to not be a regional form.
- While Runerigus could also fulfill this category, it can only evolve from Galarian Yamask as opposed to Unovan Yamask.
Origin
As its appearance suggest, Kingambit is based heavily on samurai, shogun and daimyo of Japan's past, with its "hair" giving off a throne like impression-its coloration matching the Chrysanthemum Throne, used by Japanese Emperors. Being the "king" of Pawnard and Bisharp and its rather underwhelming strategy of using direct force maintains its bandit leader inspirations, in this case being evocative of a corrupt ruler or "king of brigands". Riding its hair than to stand up refers to East Asian and Japanese caste customs of how riding horses and steeds was a right reserved only for the upper classes, as such a height allowed nobles and rulers to be distinguished from the common people.
Design wise, Kingambit's structure also resembles a rhinocerous beetle (much like Heracross), with its bowing pose resembling how said beetles fight.
Etymology
Kingambit is derived from "king" and "gambit".
