Biology

Physiology

Floragato is a humanoid feline Pokémon with green fur, some plant growth around its neck, and a facial pattern that makes up as the mask and tie. A flower bud is located on its neck, which Floragato uses as a yo-yo.

Behavior

Floragato are mischievous and love showing off. Prone to loneliness, they will start misbehaving if their Trainers give them inadequate attention, such as wrapping their sleeping Trainers as a desperate means to coerce attention. Even when not resorting to extreme methods, when not given said attention or they become jealous of their Trainer's other Pokémon, their fur will become prickly to the touch and will only become soft again when they receive adequate attention. [2]

When being entertained enough, Floragato prove themselves to be dexterous and intelligent in terms of combat, especially with the utilization of their flower buds.

Natural abilities

Floragato are capable of utilizing the buds on their necks in specialized vine manipulation for deftly striking their unaware opponents.

Evolution

Floragato evolves from Sprigatito at level 16. It later evolves into Meowscarada at level 36.

    Trivia

    • Floragato bares similarities with Frogadier:
      • Both have Protean as their hidden ability.
      • Both specialize in speed and attack.
      • Both their evolved states gain the Dark typing.

    Origin

Floragato seems to be based on a cat. In particular, it could draw inspiration from a Siamese cat or Himalayan cat. The flower bud and vine resemble a yo-yo and the bud being kept on Floragato's chest may be a reference to a boutonnière, a flower worn on clothing. The boot patterns on its legs may reference Puss in Boots, a famous fairy tale in Europe about an anthropomorphic trickster cat who wore boots.

    Etymology

Floragato comes from "flora" referring to plant-life and "gato" the Spanish term for cat.

    Other languages

    • French: Mastourgeon is a portmanteau of matou and bourgeon
    • Japanese: ニャローテ (Nyarote) might be a portmanteau of ニャ (nya), Japanese onomatopoeia for a cat's cry and brote, Spanish for plant bud.
