Dipplin

Dipplin (Japanese: カミッチュ, HepburnKamitchu) is a Grass/Dragon-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX.

It is a new regional evolution of Applin.

Biology

Physiology

Dipplin is a green worm like Pokémon that lives in a red apple spewing a similarly colored mixture. It’s head greatly resembles the head of Applin, but with a long, thin protuberance in the middle of its eyestalks. Its tail is green with a tan underside and green leaf-like growths sticking out of it.

Behavior

Dipplin’s head and tail are considered two separate creatures that work together to move around.

Natural Abilities

Dipplin has the ability to produce a sweet syrup from its body. This syrup can be used to beguile opponents. This syrup is used in its signature move, Syrup Bomb, and its signature ability, Supersweet Syrup.

    Trivia

    • Dipplin is the only member of a split-evolution Pokémon family that evolves twice but has its other members evolve once.
    • Oddly, prior to Hydrapple's introduction, Dipplin could use Eviolite upon its debut in The Teal Mask.

    Origin

Much like the rest of its evolutionary line, Dipplin is based on the trope of worms in apples, with the added pun on the wyrm, a type of dragon. Additionally, it is based on the candied apple, a type of apple which is coated in sugar and sold in festivals.

    Etymology

Dipplin is a combination of dip (referring to the candy mixture) and Applin.

It’s Japanese name, Kammichu, is a combination of 花蜜 kamitsu (nectar), 虫 chū (bug), and カジッチュ Kajicchu (Applin)
