Luxio

Luxio (Japanese: ルクシオ, HepburnRukushio) (LUCKS-ee-oh[1]) is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

Biology

Physiology

Luxio concept art

Luxio looks similar to its pre-evolution, Shinx, with a few differences. It gains a black mane that covers most of its head, its front legs gain two yellow band-like marking, and black trianglar markings move down to its front legs.

Gender differences

Male Luxio have bigger manes than the females.

Behavior

Wild Luxio mostly live in small groups. However, the ones living in the urban areas might reside at dark, hidden places, sewers or even powerhouses, wandering alone.

Despite being a Sinnoh Pokémon, they're quite common in Kalos, especially in Lumiose City. Some of them inhabit the Isle of Armor.

Natural abilities

Luxio can communicate with one another using their claws by emitting electrical pulses. They can also generate electricity from their tails.

Evolution

Luxio evolves from Shinx as of level 15, and evolves into Luxray once it reaches level 30.

    Clemont Luxio

Clemont revealed that he made friends with a Luxio when it was a Shinx in his childhood memories. But during his absence, Shinx evolved. Later, Luxio joined the team and he soon evolved into Luxray.

    Trivia

    • Luxio's Pokédex number is 404, which is usually associated with HTTP code of error message due to web server was unable to find the page requested by the user.

    Origin

Luxio is based on a lynx with lion traits. It also shares similarities with a sphinx, a creature with an animal-like body with a more humanoid head.

    Etymology

Luxio is a combination of lux (Latin for 'light'), lynx, and a corruption of leo (Latin for 'lion'). The "io" in its name may come from ion (an atom that has lost or gained some electrons) and the "lux" may come from Luxor, an ancient Egyptian city and/or an Egypt-themed hotel and casino in Las Vegas.
