Pheromosa

Pheromosa (Japanese: フェローチェ, HepburnFerooche) (fair-uh-MO-suh[1]), code-named UB-02 Beauty (Japanese UB02 Beauty), is a Bug/Fighting-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VII. It is an Ultra Beast, one of the several species of Pokémon native to Ultra Space. It is the counterpart of the Ultra Beast known as Buzzwole, sharing the same code-number "UB-02".

Biology

Physiology

Pheromosa is a tall , thin, white and gold, highly-feminine, anthropomorphic cockroach-like Pokémon with a long white membrane resembling long hair. It has a long antennae that somewhat resemble the whiskers of fish. Its eyes are oval-shaped with purple irises and blue pupils. It has golden pads on its joints and yellow feet that resemble high heels. Its body is segmented, and it bears a resemblance to a fashion model wearing a tight-fitting outfit and a short skirt.

Behavior

Pheromosa is violent, malevolent, and evil, like all of its UB counterparts. As seen in SM114: Beauty Is Only Crystal Deep!, Pheromosa is capable of taking advantage of Pokémon who has become infatuated with its beauty to do its bidding and empower itself.

Natural abilities

Pheromosa is able to twitch its limbs at a speed of an estimated 120 miles per hour. It also produces a pheromone that causes those nearby to become awestruck at its presence. It lures in its prey in this intentionally malevolent and cruel, sadistic manner.

Evolution

Pheromosa doesn't evolve.

Pokédex entries

  • Sun

One of the dangerous Ultra Beasts, it has been spotted running across the land at terrific speeds.

  • Moon

One of the Ultra Beasts. It refuses to touch anything, perhaps because it senses some uncleanness in this world.

  • Ultra Sun

A life-form that lives in another world, its body is thin and supple, but it also possesses great power.

  • Ultra Moon

Although it's alien to this world and a danger here, it's apparently a common organism in the world where it normally lives.

    Trivia

    • Pheromosa can be seen as a counterpart to Buzzwole. Both are Bug/Fighting-types, but while Buzzwole is exclusive to Sun and masculine-looking, Pheromosa is exclusive to Moon and feminine-looking.
    • Pheromosa bears a close resemblance to Lusamine, especially in its shiny form.
    • It is unknown why Pheromosa can learn Roost, a move used often by Flying or levitating Pokémon.

    Origin

Pheromosa is based on a cockroach with humanoid traits. It particularly resembles the molted shell of a cockroach, which are usually white or transparent. Being a counterpart to Buzzwole, it may play off of the Fight Or Flight response theme of the two, with Pheromosa resembling the Flight response and usually relying on speed.

With the theory that the original seven Ultra Beasts are based on the Seven Deadly Sins, Pheromosa may be based on the Sin of Lust, as it is alluring and seductive in a feminine manner, capable of giving off pheromones that make other Pokémon become attracted to its appearance.

It also bears a resemblance to a female fashion model in a tight-fitting outfit and short skirt.

    Etymology

Pheromosa may incorporate "pheromone", "mimosa" (a type of silky tree plant), "hermosa" (Spanish for "beautiful"), or "formosa" (Portuguese for "beautiful"), and the suffix "-a" which is used in languages to represent a female or something feminine in appearance or quality.

Ferōche comes from "pheromone," "feroce" ("fierce" in Italian, often considered a "romantic" or "classy" language), and "cockroach."
