Kingler

Kingler (Japanese: キングラー, HepburnKinguraa) (KING-ler[1]) is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I.

Biology

Physiology

Kingler is a crab Pokémon. It has a 5 spiked crest on top of its head and more teeth on its mandible than Krabby. It has two pincers with different sizes.

When it Gigantamaxes, it gains a foam beard and its eyes turn red. Its arms and legs become longer and spikier. Like other Dynamax Pokémon, it gains three swirling red clouds around its head.

Behavior

Kingler possess a large pincer that boasts huge amounts of strength equal to 10,000 horsepower of crushing force. However, the pincer is quite heavy and is difficult to wield, leaving Kingler exhausted after being used. Out of battle, these large claw aren't very efficient for most everyday tasks, so they tend to use their smaller ones instead. When signaling to fellow Kingler or competing for dominance, however, they will wave their larger claws wildly in the air (a very tiring action for them).

Gigantamax Kingler is capable of producing bubbles that are high in alkaline content. Anyone who touches these bubbles will be melted down.

Evolution

Kingler evolves from Krabby at level 28.

    Ash Kingler

Ash has a Kingler, which evolved from his Krabby after a battle against an Exeggutor in the Indigo Plateau Conference.

    Trivia

    • Kingler and Scizor have the same species name: the Pincer Pokémon.
    • Kingler has an identical national Pokédex number and Galar Pokédex number.

    Origin

Kingler is based on a fiddler crab. Its Gigantamax form is based on the Japanese Spider Crab. Also, it might be based on a king due to its name and bubble beard.

    Etymology

"Kingler" is a mix of the words "king" and "fiddler" (two species of crab).
