Gurdurr

Gurdurr (Japanese: ドテッコツ, HepburnDotekkotsu) (GUR-dur[1]) is a Fighting-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

Biology

Physiology

Gurdurr, is a gray hourglass-shaped humanoid with a large, round violet nose. It has hair-like protrusions on its head. Prominent swelling pink veins surround its limbs and chest, as well as its shoulders. Gurdurr always carries an "I Beam Girder" it its arms.

Behavior

Gurdurr uses its steel girder to train its muscles, which it shows off to its comrades, though if it fails to impress them, it keeps a low profile. It also prefers to destroy than build; it is said to excel at demolition and be terrible at construction. Groups of Gurdurr and Machoke can sometimes be seen comparing their muscles with each other; "losers" will drop out of future comparisons in favor of additional training.

Natural abilities

Gurdurr is very sturdy, so sturdy that even a group of wrestlers cannot make it budge.

Evolution

Gurdurr is the evolved form of Timburr as of level 25 and pre-evolved form of Conkeldurr. It evolves into Conkeldurr via trade.

Trivia

  • It shares similarities with Machoke since it has a 3-stage evolution line and a gender ratio of 3 males to 1 female. Like Machoke, as mentioned above, Gurdurr evolves when traded and both Pokémon are Fighting types.
  • Gurdurr and Conkeldurr are the only Pokémon in the Pokémon Conquest game to have 100%-max link with 5 warriors, the highest in the game.
    • These are Koroku, Seikai, Takahisa, Tokitaka, and Yoshihiro, who all played a part in Japanese History.

Origin

Gurdurr seems to be based on a construction worker mixed with a muscleman from a carnival sideshow (due to its round red nose and clown-like hair).

Etymology

Gurdurr comes from girder (a metal support beam).
