Burmy

Burmy (Japanese: ミノムッチ, HepburnMinomucchi) (BURR-mee[1]) is a Bug-Type Pokémon introduced in the Generation IV.

Biology

Physiology

Its cloak is based on what location it most recently battled in. If it battled in a grassy area, it will have the grass cloak. If it battled at a beach or in a cave, it will have the sandy cloak. If it fought in a building, it will have the trash cloak. Once a female Burmy evolves into Wormadam, its cloak becomes part of its skin, and decides the Wormadam's second type.

Behavior

If they have their cloak damaged during a battle, they will apply nigh materials to immediately create a new one. In warmer weather, they shed the outer layers of their cloaks to keep from overheating. Burmy seem to always find something to cover themselves in, no matter how barren their surroundings.

Evolution

Burmy can evolve into either Mothim (male) or Wormadam (female) once it reaches level 20.

Plant Cloak: If its cloak is even slightly damaged, Burmy will immediately repair it with whatever is close at hand. The Pokémon within the cloak is scrawny and vulnerable to the cold.
Sandy Cloak: It creates a cloak by weaving together sand, mud, and silk it has spat out. This earthen cloak is ruined by wind and rain, so the Pokémon hides away in caves and other such places.
Trash Cloak: When confronted by a lack of other materials, Burmy will create its cloak using dust and refuse. The cloak seems to be more comfortable than one would think.

    Trivia

    Origin

Burmy is based on a bagworm, a moth who's pupal stage includes forming a case around it covered in natural objects, usually plant materials. It's evolution based on gender is based on how bagworms mature, usually turning into moths when they are male or staying as a larvae-like stage when they are female. It's antennae may take inspiration from a spring.

    Etymology

Burmy may come from the words bug, worm, and baggy.
