Gumshoos (Japanese: デカグース, Hepburn: Dekaguusu) (GUM-shoos[1]) is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VII.
Biology
Physiology

Gumshoos shares many similarities to its previous evolution, but is much larger in general. Its main fur is brown, but the top and underside are yellow in color. Gumshoos has three black toes on either paw. It also has a tuft of yellow fur on its chin. It has nicked ears and the insides of its ears are black. Although Gumshoos is still quadrupedal like its pre-evolution, it is capable of standing on its hind legs. It has large white eyes with horizontally-slitted pupils, two thin black eyelashes on each eye, and two lines around its snout. It has spikes on its fur that resembles a detective's trenchcoat collar. There are thin lines on the yellow parts of its fur; namely three on its head, three on its stomach, and two near the end of its tail.
Shiny Gumshoos is a slightly different shade of brown, and has pink stripes instead of yellow stripes.
Behavior
Gumshoos deploy the opposite strategy from Yungoos when hunting. Instead of prowling around for its prey, Gumshoos stakes out its prey's usual routes and waits for it come by. It's known to be patient and persistent.
These Pokémon are tenacious and will stick to a single target until they succeed. One trait these Pokémon do have in common with Yungoos, however, is that they are also diurnal. When the sun sets, Gumshoos will fall asleep right where they stand, exhausted from a day’s worth of keeping watch. Gumshoos do have a preference for Alolan Rattata and Raticate, which is why they were imported in the first place. They are rarely able to hunt them, however, because of how their prey have adapted. Though normally quite patient, Gumshoos will get very excited when they sight an unfortunate wild Rattata.
Habitat
Gumshoos commonly lives in forests and grasslands. In Paldea, it can also be found in caves.
Natural abilities
Being a Normal-type Pokémon, it possesses no special abilities. However, it tends to bite. Unlike its previous evolution, it is very patient and can stay in the same area for a long time.
Evolution
Gumshoos evolves from Yungoos at level 20 during the day.

Trivia
Origin
Gumshoos is based on a small Indian mongoose, a species of mongoose imported to Hawaii to control rats from eating sugar cane crops similarly to how it and its pre-evolution Yungoos were introduced to the Alola region to control Alolan Rattata and Alolan Raticate, and a detective.
Etymology
Gumshoos comes from gumshoe (another name for a detective), and mongoose.
