Silicobra

Silicobra (Japanese: スナヘビ, HepburnSunahebi) (sih-lih-KOH-bruh[1]) is a ground-type introduced in Generation VIII.

Biology

Physiology

Silicobra is a small, snake-like Pokémon that is colored tan, beige and dark brown and has green eyes with black pupils.

Behavior

While digging, it will swallow at least 17 pounds of sand and store it in its neck pouch. When it feels threatened, it will spew sand from its nostrils to blind the enemy before retreating to its burrow to hide. They are not very fast, however; prey that manage to flee from these sand blasts can usually make it to safety before Silicobra can catch up. Silicobra with full neck pouches are weighed down even further, ensuring that they will not be able to chase down their quarry. Contrary to popular belief, neither Silicobra nor their evolutions are venomous.

Evolution

Silicobra evolves into Sandaconda when it reaches level 36.

Common

Pokédex entries

  • Sword

As it digs, it swallows sand and stores it in its neck pouch. The pouch can hold more than 17 pounds of sand.

  • Shield

It spews sand from its nostrils. While the enemy is blinded, it burrows into the ground to hide.

  • Scarlet

Silicobra's neck pouch, which can inflate and deflate like a balloon, gets more elastic each time Silicobra sheds its skin.

  • Violet

Silicobra's large nostrils are specialized for spraying sand, so this Pokémon is not very good at telling apart different smells.

    Trivia

    Origin

Silicobra's design is based on a cobra or other types of desert-dwelling snakes such as the rattlesnake or sidewinder. It could also be based on hognose snakes, which is known for flattening their neck when threatened. Despite it's name, Silicobra can't learn Bite.

    Etymology

    • Eng: Silicobra may be a combination of silicon and cobra.
    • Jpn: Sunahebi simply means sand snake.
