Biology
Physiology
Miraidon is a large cybernetic draconic Pokémon. Most of its body is violet in color, although its face, claws, abdomen, and tail are gray. Additionally, there are light purple accents on its shoulders and legs, the latter of which resemble jet engines when folded and allow it to float in the air. Its head has a dark purple casque, circular purple cheeks, two pairs of electric antennae, and black eyes. The eyes have a pixelated display; they usually show yellow-cyan pupils, although Miraidon can simulate blinking by changing the display pattern. Miraidon has a long neck and throat (forming a prominent circular growth) with bright of purplish-yellow plasma surging within, and white stripes accenting it. This internal plasma is mostly concentrated on its throat, tail, and antennae (which can emit the energy in a manner similar to electricity). The energy has a blue glow around the edges from all angles. Its particularly long, surging, striped tail that contains the same plasmic purple and yellow energy; the tip of its tail surges with plasma and is shaped like a lightning bolt, much like its electric antennae.
It is confirmed that Miraidon is the futuristic version of Cyclizar.
Behavior
Despite being cybernetic in nature, almost fully robotic, Miraidon displays an advanced level of natural intelligence and perceptiveness. Much like a young tiger, it is quiet and calm, and carefully evaluating any potential trainer using keen insight before deciding to obey and follow. It utters low electronic burbling and growling noises that sound like a wildcat's cries. Miraidon's calm and enigmatic catlike nature makes it difficult to discern its thoughts or emotions, with subtle hints only visible in its LED-like electronic eyes. Being a cyborg, it is only part robot, and thus exhibits animal traits, such as the ability to consume food to regain strength, allowing it to access its transformations.
Natural Abilities
Miraidon has the ability to change its form in order to facilitate travel. Drive Mode Miraidon can generate the energy in its tail and throat and turn them into wheel-like rings, which allow it to accelerate. Aquatic Mode Miraidon is similar in appearance to Drive Mode, and propels itself using both its rings and the jet engines on its legs. Glide Mode Miraidon moves its antennae in order to expand an energy membrane, allowing it to glide and fly through the sky.
When in Ultimate Mode, it is always using its plasma-powered jet-engines to fly and levitate, even when sleeping. When in battle, its entire body surges with powerful plasma, and it moves at lightning speed as it flies high into the air, curls up, and strikes its opponent like a wheel of electricity. It is powered by a high-tech Hadron Engine, which is its special ability, sending a surge of electricity across the battlefield.
Evolution
Miraidon cannot evolve.

This seems to be the Iron Serpent mentioned in an old book. The Iron Serpent is said to have turned the land to ash with its lightning.

A Miraidon made its debut in a short based on Team Rocket's expedition to Paldea, where they tried to catch it. However, it noticed them and flew past them at high speed before electrocuting them, blasting them off.
Trivia
- Miraidon's Japanese name (ミライドン) is very similar to the Japanese name of Miraitowa (ミライトワ), the official mascot of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The first 3 katakana are the same, the 4th katakana in Miraidon's name is the same as Miraitowa's but with dakuten added to change its sound. The 5th katakana is the only one in both names that is fully different as it is not a variation of the same character. Both "Miraitowa" and "Miraidon" also come from the Japanese word "mirai" (未来) and said word appears in full at the start of both names.
- This is evident when you put either Japanese name into Wikipedia, as results for both the "Miraitowa and Someity" and "List of Generation IX Pokemon" pages pop up.
- Miraidon has the highest base Special Defense stat of all Electric type Pokémon.
- Miraidon is the only dragon type Paradox Pokémon to be a Future Pokémon rather than an Ancient Pokémon.
Origin
Miraidon largely resembles an Asian dragon or dinosaur with futuristic elements. With its striped body and cool and calculating personality, it has traits of tigers, possibly the raijū, a legendary tiger-like creature from Japanese mythology that is often associated with lightning and thunder. It also shares traits with motorbikes (perhaps the light cycles from the TRON series) and air crafts, as the electrical parts on its head resemble handlebars, its throat resembles a bike tire, and it also has jet propellers on its sides. Its purple-and-yellow color scheme and futuristic motorbike inspiration may also be a reference to the Transformers character Sideways. Miraidon may also be partially inspired by the thought experiment known as Roko’s basilisk, a thought experiment in which an artificial supercomputer creates a simulation in which it tortures those who know of its existence but did not contribute to it.
Etymology
Miraidon may originate from mirai (未来, Japanese for "future") and don (Spanish for "lord").The suffix -don, meaning "tooth", is also most commonly given to dinosaur names. It may also incorporate "ride on", as it resembles a motorbike and/or aircraft and a bicycle and the player can ride on it.
