    Trivia

    • Iron Thorns resembles MT from Pokéstar Studios, while it's shiny coloration resembles MT2.
    • Iron Thorns' English name resembles that of the throwing item Iron Thorn in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series, though it uses the plural form "thorns" instead of the singular "thorn."
    • Iron Thorns is one of the Pokemon that does not have a hidden ability.

    Origin

Iron Thorns is loosely based on Mecha-Godzilla, the robotic counterpart to the original Godzilla. It may also allude to MT and MT2, mechanical versions of Tyranitar that appear in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2's Pokéstar Studios, which are also references to Godzilla.

    Etymology

Iron Thorns literally refers to the Pokémon's mechanical appearance and the spikes on the back of its body.

Its Japanese name, Tetstunoibara, can be read as (てつ)(いばら), meaning "iron thorns".
