The Unova Pokédex is a regional Pokédex introduced in Generation V. It corresponds to the Unova region. It can register up to 156 different species of Pokémon, starting with Victini (#000) and ending with Genesect (#155); both of them are Mythical Pokémon. It appears in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version and Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2.
In Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, the Unova Pokédex can register up to 301 species of Pokémon, nearly double the number of Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version. Even when considering the 156 species in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version, the Unova Pokédex overtakes the Kanto Pokédex for having the most Pokémon in a regional Pokédex before later being surpassed by the Kalos Pokédex. The Unova Pokédex is the only regional Pokédex to not feature Pikachu.
Description

The Unova Pokédex is a device with two screens, one of which is extendable. There is only one button in the center of the Poké Ball logo, which turns the device on, and everything else can be controlled from a touch screen on the lower screen. There is also a small green LED next to the lower screen. The Poké Ball logo of the Unova Pokédex is either red or pink, depending on the player's gender, although more customizations could be downloaded through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection before the service discontinued on May 20, 2014. Shapewise, the Unova Pokédex resembles an iPod but ultimately resembles both a Nintendo DS and a mobile phone, and while the two screens are based on the game console, the sliding top screen is reminiscent of cell phones from the early 2010s, when the Generation V games were released.
Instead of showing the time of day a Pokémon can be caught, as in Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version, the Pokédex shows the seasons when it can be encountered. Areas where the Pokémon is located flash red, and touching an area displays the methods it can be caught by: tall grass, surfing, and/or fishing. A list of habitats was added in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2.
In Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version, the lowest possible "seen" count for the Unova Pokédex is three. This is because before the player obtains the Unova Pokédex from Professor Juniper, they battle against Cheren then Bianca after each chooses either Snivy, Tepig, or Oshawott as their first partner Pokémon, respectively.
The Unova Pokédex is the first regional Pokédex where the first Pokémon in numerical order is "000" and that is a Mythical Pokémon instead of the regional Grass-type first partner Pokémon.
