Brazil

Brazil is a Tier VI nation located in South America . It's famous for being one of the strongest Tier VI nations in the game, meaning it requires no XP to play. It borders every country in its continent except for Chile and Ecuador.

Brazil is one of the best nations for a new player to play as, due to its plentiful resources, large manpower capacity, great economy, lengthy coastline, and good geographical location far from threats. It is often chosen quickly in public servers.

Its one of the few nations that start with an ideology other than Non-Aligned; in this case, Brazil is Democratic.

Background

Until the arrival of the Europeans, Brazil was settled by Stone Age tribes. Eventually, the Portuguese arrived in 1500 and Pedro Alvares Cabral claimed Brazil as a colony of Portugal.

The first settlement was founded in 1532 and Portugal began to take more of the land. The primary export was sugar. Slaves were imported from Africa to work the fields. Brazil continued to expand through wars and battles. The Portuguese defeated the French to take Rio de Janeiro and also took over several Dutch and British outposts. The Treaty of Madrid granted Brazil access to the Amazon Rainforest and the Sul region. Soon Brazil was one of the largest territories in the world. Today it is the 5th largest country in the world.

In 1807, the Portuguese royal family escaped from Napoleon and fled to Brazil. Although the king, Dom Joao VI, returned to Portugal in 1821, his son remained in Brazil and became emperor of the country. He declared Brazil's independence in 1822.

In 1889, Deodoro Da Fonseca led a coup to take over the government from the emperor. He changed the government to a republic ruled by a constitution. Over the years since, the country has been ruled by elected presidents as well as by military coups.

Base Statistics

Economy

Brazil starts with a gross income of around $11.1 million. $10.9 million comes from tax while $0.18 million comes from resources alone. However, due to 640,000 Home guard troops, you only gain a profit of $9 million due to the immense upkeep. Its population along with the fact it starts as a democracy is a major factor to its income.

Geography

Brazil new terrain
Brazil biome

Brazil is the biggest country in South America, bordering every country in South America except Ecuador and Chile.

The terrain is predominantly Hilly and Semi-Mountainous in areas nearing the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Brazil is also in possession of the majority of the Amazon Rainforest, which leads to more than half of its biomes as Jungle. It also has the Amazon River, which is noticeable due to the patterns of the cities placed deep into Brazil's interior and it being wide enough to be noticeable on the globe texture. However, keep in mind this does not change anything, since rivers are not important and not a feature in Rise of Nations.

Cities

There are 381 cities in Brazil, most of which are positioned near the coasts. The Amazon Jungle has its cities spread out from each other, much like Siberia. There are significantly less cities near the borders of Colombia, Venezuela, and Peru. Only 2 cities have a total population more than 10 million people, namely São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The capital city, Brasilia, has 3.7 million people. This brings the total population of Brazil to 127,244,173, ranking 4th in population and global rankings, just behind India.

Formables

Strategy

The first thing to do is form the Empire of Brazil for easy stability, and to grab Resources that are not found in Brazil.

There are some problems with this however, since Argentina can be a player at the start and annex Uruguay, But this is not a problem, since Uruguay is only needed to form, so it isn't really important. But if push comes to shove, Brazil out-powers Argentina by a lot.

Attacking the United States

Attacking a player United States requires a lot of preparation and time, but is possible. This is not suggested for new/inexperienced players. Also it is recommended to read the whole strategy first, then attempt it.

Phase 1 | Building an Empire

  • As soon as you start the game, trade 3 Tungsten with Bolivia (preferably), research Research Improvements and Standardize Research Objectives, justify on Uruguay and Argentina if Argentina is an Ai, otherwise only justify on Uruguay, and move all of your home guard to the Uruguay-Brazil border, make sure auto merge is turned off so they don’t merge.
  • Build infrastructure on every city that produces phosphate. Then build 1 Electronics Factory, 1 Steel Factory, 1 Fertilizer Factory, 2 Motor Factories, 1 Aircraft Manufactory, and 5 Civilian Factories on square cities with tier III infrastructure. Also get Tax Reform and Encourage Economic Development policies. Max your Government Spending. For your Military Doctrines purchase Static Lines, Greater Support, and Military Planning for land, Grand Fleet for naval, and Special Training for Aerial. Trade to get 2 chromium for your aircraft manufactory.
  • As soon as you are finished justifying on Uruguay, declare and annex. If you have not already, justify on Argentina, but do not declare yet. When declaring on Uruguay set anti-corruption spending to 1 as the stability hit starts corruption gain.
  • After annexing Uruguay, form Empire of Brazil and set anti-corruption spending to 0. Move all your infantry to the city Colonia del Sacramento (located directly next to the Argentine Capital) and have them train and specialize in Mountainous (if Argentina is Ai). If Argentina is a player, then wait for your troops to entrench themselves and declare. After you take the Argentine capital, Argentina generally leave. If they cause trouble then use a light (2-3k) division of Tanks, along with some Artillery (5 divisions max generally) and wipe their capital. Then Auto-Capture the rest.

Phase 2 | Expanding your influence

Phase 3 | Preparing for War

  • As you get more and more income, max out your security, education, military, and healthcare spending when able to afford. Continue developing your cities for more tax income. You will need to be able to afford 100-110 divisions of tanks at 2x price ($40,480,000).
  • After you max your land doctrine tree, wait for a general that has the modifier unyielding, or defensive.
  • If you have excess political power, attempt to get a general of the army political leader, also get the policies prosperity act and public service act.
  • Create a military group and assign your general to that group. Now enlist 100-110 tanks and assign them to your ground group. Have your tanks be in divisions of 1k-1.2k
  • Justify and declare on either Cuba or Bahamas preferably as they are close to the United States mainland. If neither are possible, Bermuda is an ok option. The goal is to have an island base that you can stage your invasion force on for the invasion. Use your tanks to invade and annex. Your home guard will be stationed at your capital for a minor defense.
  • Research tree | once you get to More Advanced Supercomputers, get Tax Collection 3 in the economic research tree, also trade for oil and research the Resource Extraction section in that tree until you produce 120-150 oil minimum. Research the Factory Production section if needed for consumer goods. You will also need to research tank armor 3, tank firepower 2, and tank mobility 2.
  • After you annex your island that you will invade from, build a sonar station on the coast that your troops are stationed, to make sure the United States doesn’t have a submarine waiting for you. If the United States does not appear to notice you, then don’t make any naval units or aerial units, as to not draw suspicion. Save up 1250 military power for the Lightning Offensive military operation. Start training your tanks if you are confident in your economy or can manage it effectively to not go into debt. Start justifying on the United States and try to get into a truce with as many of their allies as possible. Also have anti aircraft and artillery around your capital. Building bombers are optional but recommend.

Phase 4 | War

  • As soon as the justification is finished, do not hesitate, immediately declare war. This is to make sure the United States doesn’t have enough time and is surprised enough that your invasion force can get a foothold in the United States mainland. When majority of your tanks have made landfall, activate Lightning Offensive. If you have naval units situate them for land bombardment to aid your tanks. If you made bombers, send them to any factories to destroy them. All research you have should go into tank armor and tank firepower. Keep watch of the sea around you, if you see any troop transports begin making infantry and prepare for a possible land invasion.
  • If all goes well, the United States should be suffering stability due to city loss and war exhaustion. If their capital is exposed, send nearby tanks to take it. The United States is very prone to balkanization due to the amount of releasables it has.
  • If the United States is able to hold you off, prepare for a long drawn out war. Keep your invasion island defended, and continue sending tanks and infantry as it will likely become a war of attrition.
  • Make sure to watch and manage your own stability and war exhaustion.

Trivia

  • Brazil is the 5th largest country in the world.[1]
  • Brazil is the 7th most populated country in the world.[2]
  • It is one of the four countries in RoN that start off as a democracy, the others being the United States, Japan, and India.
  • Brasilia, Brazil's capital city, was built and founded in 1960, to make the capital city closer to the center of Brazil. The previous capital was Rio de Janeiro. Brasilia is shaped like an airplane or a bird.
  • It starts 4th by default, but it is possible for it to be 3rd in extremely rare situations, even while doing nothing or being AI.
  • Due to the new 3/29/23 Update, forming Empire of Brazil could be a downside due to added justification time and military cost.
