Monaco

Monaco is a Tier I nation located in Western Europe . It borders only France and is extremely close to Italy as well. It can be quite a difficult nation to play, mainly due to it being in a poor position surrounded by powerful nations, compared to a microstate, but a combination of diplomacy and good strategy can get you far as Monaco. it is ranked as a minor power at rank 203.

Background

Monaco is a sovereign city-state and microstate on the French Riviera close to the Italian region of Liguria, in Western Europe . Bordered by France to the north, east and west, it is lapped by the Mediterranean Sea to the south. The principality is home to 38,683 residents, of which 9,486 are Monégasque nationals; it is widely recognized for being one of the most expensive and wealthiest places in the world. The official language is French, although Monégasque (a dialect of Ligurian which itself is a dialect of Italian), Italian and English are spoken and understood by a sizeable group.

Threats

  • Other Western European nations, particularly France and Italy may conquer Monaco for the expansion of land and money. (COMMON - UNCOMMON)
  • Any European country seeking to form the European Union. (RARE)

Strategy

Start researching factory output until Factory Output II. Once you have researched this buy 2 Gold and 2 Copper and create an electronics factory. Once it's constructed, sell it to an AI nation for additional income.

Monaco doesn't usually get invaded unless Italy or France seeks expansion, but there are some occasions of merciful circumstances. Typically as a micronation, you are safe from expansion even in such cases.

How to defend from France or Italy early game

If a strong neighbour justified on you, you should immediately start fortifying the capital, conscript infantry but save a small percentage for a destroyer or battleship, to shred the enemy's forces. Once the fleet and division is fully recruited, start training while getting a military leader. Convert military doctrine to Massed Attack and set conscription law to Limited for an upgrade of manpower supply. Although it is not guaranteed, attempt to ask for manpower from another nation in the game. Building an additional aircraft factory for the utilization of planes will motivate their decision to white peace.

Strategical Decisions

Due to your sole city having a port, use it as your advantage for naval warfare. Next, justify on Tunisia and Libya and use AI Luring to kill their homeguard. Once you have annexed Tunisia and Libya, start building an aircraft factory and steel factory, then purchase the required resources to make the factories run. Once the factories are finished, buy a small portion of oil or put mines on Libya for the use of tanks,as they are useful during early game. Conquer all of North Africa as well as Europe .

Forming the Ostrogothic Kingdom

This nation isn't the best for attempting, due to its weak economy and military firepower. It is advised to capture the once capturing all prerequisite nations before invading Italy. There is a high chance of the nation being a player, and it's difficulty of taking major cities with a limited army. Instead, justify on Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, and use AI Luring to make it easier to annex.

Continue expanding through the Balkans until you have taken all the required nations for the formable except Italy. If it's an AI, it should be simple, however if it's a player, station a navy near Italy's capital, then send your forces to Italy's capital and occupy it. Once you have taken Italy's capital and eliminated their army. Circulate your division, press "Form Line", then auto capture to take the rest of Italy and annex it. Then you have successfully formed Ostrogothic Kingdom as a microstate.

Forming the European Union

You should only really form the European Union as Monaco for a daring challenge.

Firstly, ally any strong European powers until you are ready to invade. Next, start with invading Algeria for some resources and some strength. Once the unrest lowers create a steel and motor factories, then start annexing Spain. Use a consistent navy to your advantage by blocking the Gibraltar strait. Once you have annexed Spain, annex Portugal then prepare for Blitzkrieg for France, if they are a player. Move the navy towards the English Channel, and capital snipe them while they are preoccupied. Once you have gotten France's capital the rest is straightforward. You are probably strong enough to expand through Europe, with only slight turbulence or threats. Soon, you will unify Europe under one banner!

Forming the Republic of Genoa

Italy has collapsed

Firstly, create an electronic factory and purchased the required resources for maintenance. Next, justify on Liguria and Sardinia. Once your electronic factories are completed, sell 5 electronics per AI nation. After, your economy should be suitable enough to upkeep infantry. Make 80,000 infantry and declare war on Liguria. Once you have finished off Liguria, declare war on Sardinia, and if Russia did not interfere, justify on Ukraine and Corsica.

War on Crimea

Sail across with infantry through the Istanbul canal and declare war on Ukraine, or alternatively if Crimea is independent, just annex it. If not, use AI Luring to kill the home guard and invade Ukraine's territory. After this you should have acquired all the needed nations to form.

if Italy is a player

Since Italy be a major issue when forming Republic of Genoa, this strategy is generally focused on ramping up strength and preparation of war.

Similarly to the first part of this strategy, a electronic factory, and buy 2 Gold and 2 Copper, Once the factories running, sell 5 Electronics per AI nation. After this fortify your capital and justify on Libya and Tunisia. It is good to take these nations for a vantage point against Italy and resources.

Next, create infantry with your current manpower pool and train them for Arid specialization, then declare war on Libya. Once you have declared war use AI Luring, to lose the least amount of troops as possible. After you have annexed Libya, move onto Tunisia, and wait for the unrest on Libya cool down. Once it has create a motor and steel factory, which will requires purchasing the said resources.

After the factories are constructed, buy Oil then create tanks on your square cities to about ~1,600 tanks, then justify on Italy. Once you have justified, quickly fortify important cities and recruit a sustainable naval fleet for reinforcements. Attempt to capital snipe Italy which will monumentally weaken their stability, economy, and raise their war exhaustion

If you are unable to capital snipe Italy

Build more tanks and transport a small percentage to the capital or through Sicily. Flank through Sicily, for ground superiority. Attempt to ambush Italy by sending more tanks, while he is occupied with invading other nations. As you do this use your navy to shred the remaining forces. Continue this process until you have successfully drained Italy's economy and military, which will be the key door to victory.
