Borders

Sao Paulo only borders one country which is Brazil. It also has a smaller population than Brazil and it has acces to the Antlantic Ocean.

Politics

Sao Paulo starts with the non-aligned ideology. It is a releasable of Brazil. Sao Paulo sadly has no formables it can form.

Strategy

To start of you need to go Brazil. Justify a liberation war on any small country/island and release Sao Paulo.

Starting Moves

  • Start off with building one electronic, one steel, one motor, and one fertilizer factory. Make sure to get all the resources you need for these factories!
  • After that try to build a few tanks, around 1k would be good and if you have enough Military Power assigning a general would be a good move but is not that important.
  • You want to use your Political Power to move your conscription law to either Limited, Extensive, or Required. Whichever you choose is your choice, however it is recommended to go Limited instead of Extensive or Required. You will need the manpower granted by conscription laws to reinforce your army.
  • Justify a war on Uruguay. Declare war on both countries after you have finished your justifications and use your tanks to annex them. Make especially sure that you seize their treasury and resources. Alternatively, if all of Brazil is released, you will likely want to mop up all of the Brazilian releasables except for Amazonia. You may not want to take Amazonia as they have a low population, are entirely jungle, and your most precious resource, Manpower, will dwindle due to attrition. You may also decide to not take Nordeste, as they have a negligible population and your army could be better used elsewhere.
  • After this build 2-3 civilian factories and research Factory Output 2.

War with Argentina

  • By now, you should've taken Uruguay.
  • Build 4,000 tanks and while doing this, make sure your economy doesn't go insane. However, you can tank a deficit just below $2 million if you have enough treasury. You will be disbanding some of the tanks after the war anyway.
  • Once you made all these tanks Justify a war on Argentina.
  • Make some type of units which can damage the Argentina home guards anything like navy, artillery or airforce would work.
  • Declare war and send all your tanks to the nearest city and wait for the tanks to entrench. Once the home guard is dead reinforce your stack.
  • Once the stack is reinforced send all of it to occupy Buenos Aires, in the meantime make 100k infantry or 1k tanks. With those units naval invade in Argentinian Patagonia. With the rest of the tanks you can freely autocapture.

After Argentinan war

Once Argentina collapses, you will want to annex them. You may want to focus on your economy, or you could continue expansion elsewhere. If you decide to expand in South America, here are some prime expansion targets:

  • Chile - Chile has large amounts of copper and could easily support many electronics factories.
  • Colombia & Venezuela - Both have large population counts and both have large amounts of oil which are very useful if you wish to create a large navy or tank army without oil expenditure. By taking this, you will also largely secure South America from an expansionist Mexico.
  • Bolivia - Bolivia contains 3 tungsten, which is enough to support a motor parts factory. This can be doubled, through mines, to 6 tungsten so that you never have to worry about tungsten again.
  • Mexico - Mexico has a very large population, and if there is no United States or the United States has decided not to expand into Mexico, the large population in Mexico could prove a boon in your conquests. Mexico also contains a lot of oil, which is always useful.
  • Nigeria - Nigeria has a quite large population which can be exploited for large amounts of Manpower and Money.
  • Sierra Leone - This country has a large amount of Titanium, about 2 units at the start of the game.
  • South Africa - South Africa has a large population and 3 tungsten at the start of the game.

Once you've taken multiple or all of these nations, you may want to begin to attack stronger nations. If the USA is not being played, the massive population in the USA could easily catapult you to 1st rank great power if you were to take it. You could also expand into South East Asia, which has a large population overall and could provide a gateway into China or India. Taking India or China will be a massive boon to a world conquest. While this is happening, if you are so inclined, you may want to strike into and decimate Europe so that players in Europe will not be a threat to you, though this is aggressive and may lead to your untimely downfall.

Ideology

There are two routes most recommended to follow for ideology when playing as Sao Paulo. The first is communism which will help you strike hard against the countries that would usually be harder to invade like Brazil with all that extra manpower as well as gaining less war exhaustion and more output from your factories. The second route is fascism which is good for quickly expanding and overwhelming your enemies with your sheer size and low military upkeep; however, you will still gain the same amount of war exhaustion and sustaining a full scale war for a really long time will have long lasting damage to your stability.

Threats

  • Brazil retaking you. (COMMON-UNCOMMON)
  • Any nation colonizing the collapsed Brazil. (COMMON-UNCOMMON)
  • Portugal trying to reform the Portuguese Empire. (UNCOMMON-RARE)
  • After being formed by Uruguay, Banda Oriental may want to expands further into Brazil. (RARE-SUPER RARE)
  • Any existing country expands into Brazilian releasables for easy population. (RARE)
  • Any existing country expands to here for natural resources. (LEGENDARY)

Trivia

  • Brazil consumes 1.6 million pizzas every day, of these, approximately 1 million are eaten in São Paulo.
