Biome
Except for a tiny city-island to the north of the mainland, the entirety or Sri Lanka is covered in Jungle.

Strategy
As Sri Lanka you have 2 options where to expand:
It is recommended to expand into Southeast Asia, as you can form the Kingdom of Kandy when you conquer
Malaysia and
Maldives, although there's a higher chance of not encountering a player when expanding into Africa.
Defending against
India
India players often want to expand into Sri Lanka, It is likely that you will not survive it if
India knows how to counter your defenses.
Build Fortifications on all your cities, and just like as if you were playing as Taiwan, you can build up a navy of Submarines and sink any ships that come to your island. However, some
India players are smart and will counter with Destroyers, in that case make some Artillery on the coast - their ships will get damaged by the artillery they can't counter without using aircraft or landing on your island.
If they successfully land on your island, you can still counter them. Entrench some troops with some artillery on a city that is in the Hilly terrain and Jungle biome. This way, your troops will have almost the same defense bonuses as if it were mountains. Now, rotate your troops so they don't get a flanking bonus, and wait until they try to kill your troops while you're shooting at them with your artillery.
Expanding into Southeast Asia
Justify on Maldives and
Malaysia. Make as much troops as you can and send them to
Malaysia. Declare war on both when you can and use the AI Luring tactic to destroy their Home Guard. Send a destroyer to
Maldives to shoot at their home guard. Justify on
Thailand and
Cambodia. When you're done conquering
Malaysia, start building a steel and a motor factory, and send your troops to Sri Lanka to regenerate, then conquer
Maldives. Now form the
Kingdom of Kandy and start building tanks in
Malaysia. If you don't have enough manpower, use the Massed Attack Doctrine and disband your troops so they don't waste your manpower. Then go conquer
Cambodia with the same tactic,
Thailand too, and now you can go either colonize, invade
India or
China, or just improve your economy.
Expanding into Africa
Justify on Somalia and
Kenya. If you've formed the
Kingdom of Kandy, then make tanks in
Malaysia and send them there to conquer these lands. If not, spawn as much troops as you can and invade
Somalia (with the AI Luring tactic, of course). Wait until the unrest goes down and make tanks there. Then justify and invade
Uganda,
Kenya and
Tanzania so you can make more cities at once, then you can go either to the resource-abundant south or go to the
Oil-rich north. In case you encounter a player that may want to invade you, don't worry, even if they defeat you on land, you can still keep them from getting on Sri Lanka, meaning they could soon leave you be, or perhaps even rage quit.
If someone invades you in Africa, you can utilize the terrain and biomes to your advantage using Entrenchment and artillery (because land units move slower depending on the terrain, your artillery will have more time to inflict losses).
Trivia
- The capital, Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, holds the longest city name in the game. This can be used for faction names.
