It borders Brazil to the north, Argentina through a long panhandle and Paraguay to a small, but significant opening to the west and Uruguay to the south. When released, the country will encompass the entire Sul region, being made up of the Brazillian states of Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande de Sul.

In 1992, a movement in South Brazil started with the motive to separate Southern region of Brazil (Sul) from the rest of the country. Reasons vary from culture, politics, and economics. The movement gained members, and in the years 2016 and 2017, a referendum was held regarding whether the region would separate or not, with 95.74% and 96.26% voting for the separation, respectively. However, to this day, the region remains a part of Brazil.

Threats

  • Brazil retaking you. (COMMON)
  • Argentina expanding. (UNCOMMON)
  • Any other country in South America taking advantage of the collapsed Brazil and just expanding in general. (UNCOMMON)
  • Uruguay needs you to form Banda Oriental (RARE)

Strategy

To start of you need to go Brazil. Justify a liberation war on any small country/island and release Sul. You can not control what happens in a public game soo this strategy may not work all the time.

Starting Moves

  • Start off with building one electronic, one steel, one motor, and one fertilizer factory. Make sure to get all the resources you need for these factories!
  • After that try to build a few tanks, around 1k would be good and if you have enough Military Power assing a general would be a good move but is not that important.
  • Justify a war on Uruguay. Declare war on both countries after you have finished your justifications and use yourtanks to annex them. Make especially sure that you seize their treasury and resources.
  • After this build 2-3 civilian factories and research Factory Output 2.

War with Argentina

  • By now, you should have taken   Uruguay.
  • Build 4,000 tanks and while doing this, make sure your economy doesn't go insane. However, you can tank a deficit just below $2 million if you have enough treasury. You will be disbanding some of the tanks after the war anyway.
  • Once you made all these tanks Justify a war on   Argentina.
  • Make some type of units which can damage the Argentina home guards anything like navy, artilerry or airforce would work.
  • Declare war and send all your tanks to the nearest city and wait for the tanks to entrench. Once the homeguards are dead reinforce your stack.
  • Once the stack is reinforced send all of it to occupy Buenos Aires, in the meantime make 100k or 1k tanks. With those units naval invade in Argentinian Patagonia. With the rest of the tanks you can freely autocapture.

After Argentinan war

By this point, your tanks should've caused Argentina to collapse, so you should annex them. After the Argentinian war, many chances open. I would reccomend slowly developing your economy and expanding. At one point you should start preparing to occupy Brazil. Another possibility is you can start colonizing Africa for some free population which can be helpfull. Whatever you choose can not be a bad move. If you play things right you should be a contender for the strongest nation.

Ideology

There are two routes most recommended to follow for ideology when playing as Sul. The first is communism which will help you strike hard against the countries that would usually be harder to invade like Brazil with all that extra manpower as well as gaining less war exhaustion and more output from your factories. The second route is fascism which is good for quickly expanding and overwhelming your enemies with your sheer size and low military upkeep; however, you will still gain the same amount of war exhaustion and sustaining a full scale war for a really long time will have long lasting damage to your stability.
