Uruguay

Uruguay is a Tier III nation in South America . It is needed for formables of its neighbors, the powerful Argentina and the near superpower Brazil, making it very dangerous if you were to play as Uruguay.

Background

Uruguay, officially the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, is a country in the southeastern region of South America. It borders Argentina to its west and southwest and Brazil to its north and east, with the Río de la Plata (River of Silver) to the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast. Uruguay is home to an estimated 3.51 million people, of whom 1.8 million live in the metropolitan area of its capital and largest city, Montevideo. With an area of approximately 176,000 square kilometers (68,000 sq mi), Uruguay is geographically the second-smallest nation in South America, after Suriname.

Uruguay was inhabited by the Charrúa people for approximately 4,000 years before the Portuguese established Colónia do Sacramento in 1680; Uruguay was colonized by Europeans relatively late compared with neighboring countries. Montevideo was founded as a military stronghold by the Spanish in the early 18th century, signifying the competing claims over the region. Uruguay won its independence between 1811 and 1828, following a four-way struggle between Portugal and Spain, and later Argentina and Brazil. It remained subject to foreign influence and intervention throughout the 19th century, with the military playing a recurring role in domestic politics.

A series of economic crises put an end to a democratic period that had begun in the early 20th century, culminating in a 1973 coup, which established a civic-military dictatorship. The military government persecuted leftists, socialists, and political opponents, resulting in several deaths and numerous instances of torture by the military; the military relinquished power to a civilian government in 1985. Uruguay is today a democratic constitutional republic, with a president who serves as both head of state and head of government.

Uruguay produces no resources.

Uruguay starts with a 20k home guard, being a smaller nation. It's default conscription is Volunteer and its maximum manpower pool is 60,000. It has a manpower gain of 483.

Uruguay doesn't have many threats, however it does have very common threats that make it harder to play the nation smoothly.

Strategy

Surviving against Brazil or Argentina

As Uruguay, it is very hard to survive a Brazilian or a Argentinian Invasion, thus you must begin planning to defend as hard as you can, using fortifications especially on your capital of Montevideo, but as a first priority you must make, A few Electronic factories (roughly 1 - 2, and 1 should be on Montevideo for a helpful boost in income from resources) and make the following, Steel, Fertilizer and Motor Factories (This is for the Civilian Factories in which you will sell as many nations as you can, 5 electronics per nation. Now with the extra invested cash build the needed fortifications, in as many cities around the capital as possible.

In the mean time you need to either go socialist to boost factory production. Now you must begin preparations, you should start by making 50 - 150 artillery on Montevideo and amass at least 90k defending infantry with your remaining manpower.

You should prepare a small naval battalion of at least 5 Destroyers, 1 Battleship and 3 - 4 submarines. This will be useful for defending their attacks sent to your capital.

In the background send small armies to go expand to other states such as, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Senegal, Gambia, Liberia or Sierra Leone, use AI Luring to make this easier. Once the colonies that you've conquered have lowered Unrest and you can produce infantry and Tanks on your square cities.. If you do not fight any power, continue your African Campaign, or if you are in the Americas, try in all ways to invade Venezuela and Colombia. Both Ways you should now have a larger manpower pool, so I would begin planning an Argentinian Attack. Depending if they're a player, this may be easier but for this strategy, we will assume that it's an AI.

Now that you have probably conquered most South America or and/or the West African coast. Begin the invasion on Brazil, but prior to this, due to Brazil's likeliness of being a player and the manpower it holds, you will need to build an Air force, to stop the multiple stacks of troops coming at you (Given that most players will spam hordes at you), Use your navy and air force effectively and strategically use your artillery to your advantage. You can try to make the player rage quit or capital snipe them.
