Botswana is a Tier II nation in Africa bordering South Africa,
Namibia,
Zimbabwe, and
Zambia. It has 1 formables currently, previously 3 before
Trio Java was removed in the Biomes update and
Khoisan, before getting removed in a later update. Rendering Botswana useless except if you wanna get Collector badge.
Background
Botswana is a landlocked African country just north of South Africa. Before Europeans arrived in the area, the land was ruled by tribes of herders and farmers.
In 1885, because of some local wars, the people of Botswana asked Britain for help and protection. They became a territory of Britain and also, at the people's request, were kept out of the Union of South Africa.
In 1964, Botswana became self-governing. Since then they have had a constitution and democratic elections. The first president was Seretse Khama.
Then on, Botswana became one of the most prosperous African Nations, with a GDP per Capita of ~10,000.

Terrain and Biomes
The terrain of Botswana is flat, but is near some hills. This makes it almost impossible to defend from enemies such as South Africa.
The middle and southwest part of the country is Arid.
Threats
Botswana's only main threats are South Africa because it needs it to form
South African Union, and
Democratic Republic of the Congo wanting to get closer to
South Africa.
Angola,
Zimbabwe or
Zambia may also be a threat. Sometimes,
Zimbabwe and/or
Zambia might be a threat if they are skilled players due to both having square cities (cities with over 1 million people), and thus, the ability to produce tanks early on.
Strategy
Your first priority is to make sure no one is South Africa because it is your only large threat. If someone is, then it's best to leave as
South Africa is WAY more powerful than Botswana
If it isn't justify on Zimbabwe and
Namibia. There is a coastline in
Namibia and there is a large
Gold deposit + 1M city in
Zimbabwe, meaning you can have more manpower and especially, Tanks which are going to be able to help you take
South Africa.
A good decision but double-edged sword is to use the Mass Attack Doctrine. It will do these:
Good Things:
- Double manpower production
- You will be able to make more troops and tanks
Bad Things
- Less Experience
- Harder time taking cities (Can be fixed by making more troops to have equivalent results with non-mass attack troops)
If you take both nations make some tanks with Harare (1M+ city) and use AI Luring against the strong AI South Africa.
Once you have South Africa you're stronger. Invade other countries for
African Union, your only Formable after forming previous.
Though results may vary..
