Ecuador

Ecuador is a Tier III nation located in South America . It borders Peru, Colombia, and the Pacific Ocean.

Background

Ecuador was long inhabited by local tribes for thousands of years until Inca Empire arrived. They fought off the Incas for some years, but eventually were subjugated under the Inca Empire which took control of the area in the 1400s. A century later in 1534, Spanish conquistadors arrived. They defeated the Inca and took control of the land. For many years the area was part of the Spanish Empire. The natives suffered greatly from disease brought by the Europeans and were often forced to work for the Spanish colonists. The city of Quito was a major city of the time and is today identified as a World Cultural Heritage Site.

In 1822, the area gained independence from Spain when Simon Bolivar and his armies defeated the Spanish. At first the land was part of the larger group of countries called Gran Colombia, but in 1830, Ecuador became a separate independent country.

Ecuador and Peru have long had battles and disputes over their borders. This lasted until 1999, when some agreement was come to on the current borders. Ecuador went through a period of internal unrest during the 1970s when the country was under direct military rule.

Strategy

You should start by making factories as usual, but don't stress creating motor parts or steel as they will not be required. One, two, or maybe even three electronics factories is a good start but don't overdo it because you'll need to save money.

At the start as well, lower your taxation law by one level to get a stability increase. Do not use policies for a stability increase, as you will need to save political power for changing your ideology. Also save as much military experience as possible; get the doctrine escort fleet at the start and get an admiral later.

Finally, the last thing to do at the start, is justify war goals on Panama and Guyana.

Once your justifications are finished, your factories are finished, and you've changed your naval doctrine to escort fleet, start selling Electronics and construct a fleet of frigates and destroyers. For defense, put some artillery on the Galapagos Islands as well. Move your infantry off the coast and declare war on Panama. Send your frigates to Panama to wither down Panama's troops. By the time your infantry arrives at Panama, your frigate will have dealt with most of their troops. Justify on Suriname and Cuba during this time.

Once Panama is finished, use the Panama Canal to send your ships to Guyana and conquer them. From here, it's a simple process of invading the Guyanas, Caribbean nations, and if Mexico isn't a player, take Central America. Once you've taken these countries, challenge Venezuela and Colombia. When they are taken, you should have enough Oil to expand your fleet further. With your massive navy, you should be ready to invade really difficult nations such as Chile or Brazil. Within due time, you will be able to unite South America and become a superpower.
