Greenland has six cities, the largest of them being Nuuk, the capital.

Greenland only consists of semi-mountainous terrain as well as the Arctic biome. To its west is the Labrador Sea separating it from Canada, to its north the Arctic Ocean, and to its south the Atlantic Ocean. Greenland does not border any countries, however if using maritime borders, it borders Iceland and Canada.

Strategy

Starting Moves

Playing Greenland is quite different from any normal nation. Greenland has a small population, it doesn't have a single city above 1 million in population, and moving troops across it is extremely slow. Nevertheless, your priority should be to gain a stronger economy and power base.

  1. Create as much infantry as possible in your cities. You want to prioritize creating troops first or else you won't be able take over nations fast early in the game.
  2. Build 2 electronic factories, 1 motor factory, and 1 steel factory. Why create motor and steel factories when you cant make tanks? Your top priority should be taking a city that can produce a tank first, and this is simply to be one step ahead, however this is also useful if you intend to build consumer goods factories. You should also sell your electronics to AI once they are produced.
  3. Enact the press censorship policy, then raise your government spending as well as research spending all the way to max. You won't lose much money from doing this as your population is extremely small, however you can still raise taxes if you wish.
  4. "Ruling an island nation without a navy is like playing China without invading anyone, it just sucks." Create a navy consisting of 1 destroyer and 1 submarine. These will be mainly used for defense against other nations, you will want to expand this navy as you gain a stronger economy.
  5. Move your troops to the ocean and justify conquest on Denmark and Iceland.
  6. You want to then attack Denmark, don't invade Iceland first as they can be killed easily later. Use your troops to wipe out Denmark's home-guard as well as take over Denmark. This will allow you to gain a base in Scandinavia as well as create tanks.

If you play on setting up a colonial empire or doing anything however, you want to make sure your position is secure from any invaders. Greenland is vulnerable at the start, so grabbing allies such as United Kingdom, France, or Germany will allow you to stay safe while expanding.

Setting up a Colonial Empire (not recommended if you are going to form Kalmar Union)

  1. Once Denmark is finished, justify conquest on Guinea and Haiti, then you want to use your land in Denmark (once all the unrest is gone) to create tanks. You will also need to buy oil, as your tanks are going to consumer a lot of oil, even more-so on the ocean.
  2. Sail your tanks all the way across the ocean to attack Guinea and Haiti, 400 tanks recommended for each nation.
  3. Set your tanks to auto-capture on their lands, and when they collapse, take all their lands.

Taking Guinea, will give you access to the gold coast, and give you rich lands to colonize. Colonizing Haiti will allow you to take over the Carribean to expand your population, however it is up to you to decide how successful you will be in your colonies.

Forming Kalmar Union (not recommended if you want to create a Colonial Empire)

Have you already taken over Denmark? Good, because you're going to need Denmark to take over Sweden. Most of Scandinavia is usually AI, so this is more of a guide.

You will want to invade the nations you need in this order: Sweden, Finland, Norway, Faroe Islands, Iceland.

You want to prioritize taking over Sweden and Finland as fast as possible as Russia will likely attempt to take over Finland for Russian Empire. If your tanks have mostly taken Southern Sweden, you want to attack Finland instead of trying to taking over Northern Sweden. You will want to invade the North later because it takes a long time to get through Arctic terrain. As for Norway's terrain, you want to spread out your tanks so they stretch out all of Norway, and then set them to auto-capture. There is no faster way to take care of Norway, so you will have to wait a long time for Norway to fall.

After you finish invading Norway, all you have to do is invade Iceland and the Faroe Islands, which will be a piece of cake!
