Australia is a Tier IV island nation located in Oceania . It's by far the largest nation in its continent, having nearly 20x more land than the second biggest, Papua New Guinea. Despite having a fair share of resources and base statistics, it's rarely seen being played.

Background

Base Statistics

Economy

The Australian economy has a starting income of $949,316. $884,303 from tax and $65,013 from resources.

Despite its reasonable income, Australia is considered to be one of the easiest countries to go into debt and deficit with, if the country isn't managed properly.

Since Australia shares no land borders with any country, players are forced to expand overseas, such as nearby neighbors, New Zealand, Christmas Island, and perhaps Indonesia. Due to this, they are required to transport units on water which can decrease their income and increase military upkeep, but can be compensated when trading resources with other nations.

Resources

Australia is resource rich, as it has Aluminum, Copper, Diamond, Gold, Iron Oil and Uranium Copper and Gold are necessary materials for producing Electronics, are the only resources that Australia can create a functioning factory with. It is highly recommend to trade with other Nations to get the resources you need or to secure some colonies with more resources.

Resources of Australia
Aluminum +4.82
Copper +1.1
Diamond +2.42
Gold +2.31
Iron +5.75
Oil +12.62

Geography

Terrain

The entirety of Tasmania, a tile containing the cities of Karratha and Roebourne, and almost all of the east coat is Hilly, with the exceptions of the flat Cape York and a Semi-Mountainous area in the southeast.

Biome

The center of country is Arid, in the southeast, the lands located near Melbourne, has Mild Winter from June to August making Australia almost entirely desert and extremely hard to traverse without taking immense attrition.

Cities

Australia has 137 cities. The capital city is Canberra. Some of the major Australian cities include: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Newcastle.

Borders

Australia has no borders but has maritime borders with New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Formables

Threats

Due to its geographical isolation and terrain, Australia is most of the time left unoccupied. Australia is needed for two formables, British Empire and The Australasian Federation. The British Empire is very rare to see in a public server, and the Australasian Federation can also be formed by Australia. The threats listed below are still applicable:

Strategy

Despite Australia being ranked as a minor nation in a neighborhood full of economic and military powers, it is considered as an optimal and feasible nation for beginners due to its geographical isolation, economy, and manpower net. Most cases, Australia is mostly ignored during early and mid game as it's isolated, rough terrain making annexation hard, and is likely avoided when it's occupied by a player.

During the very start of the game, it's highly recommended to annex New Zealand and Papua New Guinea as soon as possible to prevent any other player from gaining a Pacific foothold.

There are many paths the player may take, either to expand east and annex the smaller pacific nations, in which case, an investment into the navy is necessary or expansion into Southeast Asia and the annexation of Indonesia.

Industrialization

Consumer Goods Upkeeping

Getting started with your nation's industrialization is key. As Australia, we need to keep up 19.38 Consumer Goods, which we've rounded up to 40 Consumer Goods. To do this, we'll need:

At the start, you'll run into resource shortages for these factories, so it's important to import:

Note: We've added an extra unit to make sure you have a surplus.

Aircraft Manufactory Construction

Building an air force? You'll need an aircraft manufactory. As Australia, we will need:

At the start, you'll also have shortages for this, so be sure to import:

Note: We've added an extra unit to make sure you have a surplus.

With these steps done, your basic industrialization setup should be good to go.

With the resource update, Australia gets an unorthodox but extremely satisfying strategy: colonizing Africa. Most of Southeast Asia is resource poor in everything except Oil and completely lacks basic resources like Titanium and Tungsten. In fact, Australia starts off as the only nation in the Southeast Asia and Oceania region with any copper reserves. Therefore you should concentrate on invading nations in southern Africa. If you are fortunate enough, South Africa will typically not be a player at all, and even if they are your manpower is on par with theirs so there is a fair chance you will be able to defeat them with patience and time. Many African nations have only a tiny 20k Home Guard, and they are prime territory for easy colonization even by less powerful militaries such as Australia's.

  • Immediately justify on New Zealand and Madagascar. Create as many soldiers as your manpower will allow before setting your ground doctrine to Massed Attack.
  • Merge your units and send around half to Madagascar immediately and prepare half to sail to New Zealand. Declare war on New Zealand and Madagascar. If South Africa exists, bring a destroyer or two and attempt to seize the southernmost city of Madagascar as soon as possible (this produces titanium).
  • After you have conquered New Zealand and Madagascar, you will need to wait until your units have been completely reinforced before declaring war on any other nation.
  • Once you are out of debt and have a stable economy, set government spending to low.
  • Switch to nationalism as soon as possible, then switch your conscription law to Limited.
  • If South Africa, is not a player, you will likely have a free hand in colonizing Africa. Justify on and annex Zimbabwe and Mozambique and justify and annex Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda afterward if they are not being taken. Remember to prepare at least 160,000 troops or 1.250 tanks as Kenya and Tanzania have sizable Home Guard.
  • Start annexing other nations. and prioritize the most resource rich or most populated southern African nations but you can freely take them based on your situation.
  • Once you have enough manpower, money and resources to field around 2,000 tanks or around 600,000 trained infantry, you can declare war on South Africa and take it. Remember that it has a sizable Home Guard.
  • If South Africa is a player, justify on annex Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and at least 1 required nation for the South African Union first. Prioritize the most populated countries in order of how easily you can take them. Once you are ready, you can declare war on and overwhelm South Africa. In the worst-case scenario, you can retreat to Madagascar and ally a superpower to force them to sue for peace.
  • After you have defeated South Africa, make sure to prioritize an oil producing region to colonize as soon as possible

Once you have taken Southern Africa, you will be able to industrialize quickly and support the powerful military needed to defend your colonies. Essentially, you will be similar to a "southern" British Empire, or an Australian Empire of its own. With careful management, you will eventually get the wealth and military strength needed to deter outside invaders, protect your holdings, and become, surprisingly, a major nation within the game.

When you have done that declare war on Peru and invade it via a naval invasion. Let the Home Guard die to your entrenched units, and Auto-capture the rest of Peru.

You can possibly expand more into South America if you want to, giving you more resources and expansion.

Democratic Australia

Due to Australia's location being far away from all the action and relatively isolated from the rest of the stuff going on around the world, it makes the nation a prime spot to develop a large economy orientated around tax income despite it's small population. This strategy will allow you to become a formidable force in the server by making massive amounts in tax revenue and project your power onto other nations, allowing you to play a larger part in foreign affairs by funding others or directly involving yourself in a war with your newfound military capabilities.

Starting Off

First, what you wanna do when you load into the game as Australia, justify on New Zealand and Norfolk Island. Build 1 steel, 1 motor, 1 fertilizer and 1 electronic factory on Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide and Melbourne. Send your 100k homeguard to Norfolk Island and take it for the 75 million, use the 75 million to build 2 civilian factories in Perth and Brisbane. Research the first two technologies in the Research tree so you can get quantum as quickly as possible.

Make 800 tanks and mountain specialize them for New Zealand, then invade it and force peace the nation. Now justify on Fiji and Niue, be sure to jungle specialize your troops when you land on Fiji, this will be important to make sure you don't lose all your troops to one of the random pacific islands later on.

Mid-Game

At this point you should have formed the Australasian Federation. Now, justify on all the pacific islands in your area and annex them for the 75 million treasury. Use your newfound treasury to develop your cities while focusing on research and education spending in order to get Quantum Computing as fast as possible. Continue repeating this until you have no more pacific islands left to loot and wait until you get Quantum Computing. Be sure to also save up political power so you can switch to Democracy as fast as possible.

Economic Buildup

Once you get Quantum Computing, research tax collection and continue developing your cities until they reach tier 8, also make sure to get Sinaloa Protocol for the extra 40% tax income as it will be crucial for you as your population is relatively small. Max out all your spending laws once you have the sufficient income to do it.

Now, go ahead and activate other policies and resource policies like the Prosperity Act, Tax Reform, Improve Infrastructure, Transport Act, Power Generation Act, Isotope Research Act and Aircraft Subsidization Act for more income and the other buffs that come with the policies, you will be able to easily upkeep the resource policies due to your small population. Max out infrastructure across your entire nation for even further buffs to your resource and factory output. Build shipyards on all your square cities to further generate even more revenue. If you've done all of this, you will be able to make roughly 80-120 million from tax or more depending on your population.
