Tasmania is a Tier 1 releasable of Australia in Oceania
added in the March 29th 2023 update.
Background
Tasmania (/tæzˈmeɪniə/; Palawa kani: lutruwita) is an island state of Australia. It is located 240 kilometres (150 miles) to the south of the Australian mainland, separated from it by the Bass Strait, with the archipelago containing the southernmost point of the country.
The first reported sighting of Tasmania by a European was on 24 November 1642 by Dutch explorer Abel Tasman, who landed at today's Blackman Bay. More than a century later, in 1772, a French expedition led by Marc-Joseph Marion du Fresne landed at (nearby but different) Blackmans Bay, and the following year Tobias Furneaux became the first Englishman to land in Tasmania when he arrived at Adventure Bay, which he named after his ship HMS Adventure. In 1901 the Colony of Tasmania united with the five other Australian colonies to form the Commonwealth of Australia. Tasmanians voted in favour of federation with the largest majority of all the Australian colonies.
To today, Tasmania still remains as a province of Australia.

Strategy
Playing as Tasmania is very difficult, as you are a very small country with a maritime border on
Australia. There are many different strategies you can take for different situations and different playstyles.
If Westralia is released, then it should be incredibly easy to invade an AI
Australia, as you don't have to deal with half of the land in the arid west. Simply create 60K infantry, then invade. You should start by taking one city as far away from Australian troops as possible, luring the troops in to be killed by your infantry. You should also get the Specialization military doctrine, if you haven't already, as well as getting the tax collection technology to develop your economy. From there, you can invade
New Zealand, and potentially the rest of Polynesia once you're finished with Australia.
Even if Westralia is released,
Australia is still vastly superior to you. If you still want to invade, you should get the tax collecton technology in order to use Artillery to camp out in the south, along with potentially buying some Oil from an AI nation in order to develop a navy. You should not set your troops to auto-capture in order to avoid weakened infantry. It would also be a good idea to buy Manpower from strong nations, in order to be on equal footing with
Australia.
If you are okay with keeping your core Tasmanian lands and not expanding, you should most likely get the Neutrality Act in order to boost your defense, along with establishing diplomatic relations with other player countries in the vicinity, such as
Indonesia or
Papua New Guinea in case
Australia becomes a player. However, the defensive playstyle is not recommended for
Tasmania as you are a small country and will most likely be unrecognized by most in the server.
Almost immediately after you start, attempt to ally with Australia before anyone else. If they accept, there is no problem, and you can carry on your defensive playstyle. If they decline, you should immediately ally
Indonesia, before warning Australia that you have allies in the former, and it would be better to just accept the ally request. If they are unfazed by your intimidation, follow the steps in the previous strategy.
