Profile
Lapis hails from a quaint farming village in Brodia, with her family growing yams and potatoes, despite the poor soil. Due to the constant presence of bears in her village, Lapis quickly grew into a robust fighter capable of fending them off. To support her family, Lapis entered a fighting tournament and won, catching the attention of the Brodian royal family. She then became a royal knight, becoming the retainer for Prince Alcryst, who she is implied to have a crush on.
When news arrived at Brodia of the Divine Dragon Alear's impending arrival, King Morion sent Alcryst and his retainers to meet them. At the border, Elusia had already began attacking Brodia. On high alert, when a mysterious band of travelers arrived on the Firene-Brodia boarder, Alcryst and his retainers was the first to encounter them and fired a warning shot towards them. When the travelers revealed themselves a the Divine Dragon Alear and their band of warriors, Alcryst immediately groveled in front of them in apology. Suddenly, Elusian forces lead by Princess Hortensia launched an attack on them, forcing a battle where they were ultimately repelled.
Back at the capital, after having Alear meet King Morion, Elusia's king, Hyacinth, issued a challenge to Morion to face him in battle. Before leaving, Morion encouraged Alcryst to fight with Alear, thus Lapis continued to fight for the Divine Dragon's forces.

Personality
Lapis is good-natured and kind, especially in regards to her liege Alcryst. She has a protective streak towards him and constantly, yet gently reminds him that she was tasked with protecting him, not the other way around as he tends to voice.
Haling from a humble village, Lapis holds great pride for her family and village, especially when presented with the opportunity to talk about their notable potatoes and yams. Due to the prestige of her position, she hides it as she feels insecure about revealing her low social background, especially in comparison to Citrinne, who is directly related to the royal family. As a result, she works exceptionally hard to prove that her position was well earned.
Lapis is a natural survivalist as she was raised to live off the land. She is exceptionally knowledgeable about things like edible weeds and other valuable resources. She has a talent for craftsmanship, making quality goods out of mere scraps. Despite her petite build, Lapis has a remarkably robust constitution and is capable of fending off large bears on her own as she learned to do so for her home at a young age.
She is the best Rock Paper Scissors player in the army.

Lapis is the second primarily Sword-based fighter recruited after Alear, and also the second starting Backup unit available after Boucheron if Anna has not been recruited. She boasts excellent starting Speed and Strength, and is also tied for the highest personal Speed growth in the game, and the highest starting Speed growth in total once her starting Class growth is included. This lets her easily perform Follow-Up Attacks on all but the fastest enemies well late into the game. Lapos' other growths are generally unremarkable, including an unusually low Strength growth of just 25%, which can leave her hamstrung by low damage numbers despite her high speed in later phases, unless she is given Energy Drops and/or a class change to improve her strength.
Lapis' starting class, Sword Fighter, naturally promotes into Swordmaster. Although it further improves her impressive Speed and allows her to wield S-rank swords such as Caladbolg, its middling Strength improvement does little to solve her damage issues, potentially requiring forged weaponry to compensate. With a Second Seal, she can instead be classed into something providing higher bases and growth for Strength, such as Warrior or Wyvern Knight, which helps to keep her damage output high in exchange for being less able to double-attack some of the faster enemies. Lapis' Personal Skill, Share Spoils, can also unfortunately contribute to her lack of damage later in the game by reducing her crit in exchange for extra hit and avoid if an ally is adjacent to her, but can potentially allow her to wield inaccurate weapons such as Axes without a major drop in consistency, if she is reclassed to use them.
Lapis synergizes well with offensive Emblem Rings in general. As she has very high speed, The Ring of the Azure Twins makes for a potent combo to add considerable amounts of flat damage to her attacks with Bravery and Lunar Brace. She can also utilize Build-improving rings to keep her Speed high with heavier weapons, such as the Ring of the Sage Lord. If Lapis remains as a Back-up unit, particularly if promoted to Hero, she synergizes excellently with the Ring of the Princess Exalt with Dual Assist to dramatically increase the availability of Chain Attacks.
Overall, Lapis is a straightforward unit with enough positive traits to scale acceptably in most physical roles she is placed in. Although outclassed on a one-to-one basis by later, stronger recruits, particularly Kagetsu, she can function well as a secondary physical damage dealer, though she will rarely be a standout unit on her own without heavy favoritism.

Base Kit
Lapis is a 3 to 4 star Infantry Sword who is most noted for her exceptionally high 45 neutral Spd and can reach 49 if it is her asset, and at 41 Atk, she also can hit moderately hard. While her mixed bulk scores 70 physical and 73 magical, they both give her enough of a safety net to take a stray hit or two if needed. Due to the easy access to her and excellent stat spread, Lapis is a solid investment unit if seeking a powerful sword infantry unit, albeit she requires numerous external sources of skills to shine in the competitive scene she entered into.
Defier's Sword grants Lapis +6 Def if her foe starts combat with at least 75% of their max HP and inflicts -5 Def on them. In addition, if they have visible bonuses on them, she gains Def equal to the bonuses to their Def and inflicts a similar penalty to the foe's Def stat as well. As such, Lapis can be a Spd tank thanks to this weapon and is a viable option if seeking to utilize her innate tools.
Luna ignores half of her foe's Def when she activates the skill for her next attack. Sorcery Blade gives Lapis adaptive damage against foes during combat if she is adjacent to a magic ally. Speed Defense Oath gives her a visible +5 Spd/Def if she is adjacent to an ally at the start of her turn.
Counters
Lapis in a vacuum is a rather simplistic hero whose native skills are subpar at best. If looking to counter her, strong walls like Ascended Robin and Brave Corrin can effectively wall her. She is vulnerable to ranged heroes which she cannot natively initiate on and strong enough nuking mages can straight up demolish her before she has the ability to close in on them.
That being said, Lapis' common build as either a Speed Tank or a fan termed "godsword" build makes units with damage reduction effects solid counters to her most notorious investment builds or units who can outlast her damage can effectively wall her, again by slowing down her special procs or simply being too large of a wall for her to force through.
Skill Inheritance
Regardless of the two most common builds Lapis can have, Reposition is her best Support skill to move allies around the map, usually to put them behind her so she can duel units. While a bit hard to come by easily, Spurn is her best skill for the emphasis on using her Spd to reduce damage and bolster her special damage. If the fourth tier is accessible, she greatly values the maximum benefits of these skills with a handy -5 Spd/Def debuff and can even deal 10 true damage to her attacks if her specials are ready.
Lapis is considered one of the best candidates for the Arcane Devourer, and if accessible, is best to give her the Spd refine to maximize the full benefits of all the skills she wishes to use. Both Godlike Reflexes or Vital Astra are her best specials in tandem with Arcane Devourer as she can essentially activate both ever single round of combat, becoming a nearly impenetrable wall or a demolishing Spd tank respectively. Attack Speed Finish grants even more Atk/Spd with a +7 buff so long as she is within three spaces of an ally. It also gives her 5 additional true damage to her specials and even heals her 7 HP after combat. Finally Time's Pulse, especially its fourth tier, practically has her Special constantly charged before combat and can even activate twice during combat.
