Profile

Griss is loyal to Zephia, whom he has known for most of his life. In his youth, he was abandoned by his parents before being taken in by a sect devoted to the Fell Dragon. He became a follower of the Fell Dragon and according to Mauvier, soon discovered that he enjoyed inflicting and receiving pain, and believed that the pain he received was a sign of his devotion. Due to his traits, he was quickly noticed by Zephia and brought into the Four Hounds, and was initially incapable of making a proper discussion due to his crazed bloodlust.

Devoted to the cause of reviving Sombron and restoring his power, he does not hold back in his confrontations with Alear's forces.

After Veyle steals the Emblem Rings and the Draconic Time Crystal that were in Alear's possession, Griss begins wearing the Ring of the Caring Princess and wields the power of Dark Emblem Celica in battle.

Suspecting the truth of Alear's origin, Griss voluntarily gives up his Emblem Ring to them so that he can watch them awaken the Emblem. When he sees Alear use an invocation, he laughs hysterically, as he is the first to realize the truth, and relishes Alear's horror as he informs them that they're not a Divine Dragon, but a Fell Dragon. Griss points out that Divine Dragons awaken Emblems with prayers, while Fell Dragons use invocations.

Later, Griss accompanies Zephia in guarding one of the Fell Dragon Shards. He takes a fatal blow in the battle and feigns death while the likewise defeated Zephia gives up what remains of her life to craft a magic crystal to aid Alear in reaching the second Shard. Once they are alone together, the dying Griss and Zephia bare their hearts, and Griss explains to Zephia that he always saw the Four Hounds as a family, and that he saw Zephia like a mother or older sister in his life. After Zephia passes away, content with this knowledge, Griss makes one last physical effort to turn his dying body so that he is able to die holding her hand.

Though Griss keeps his feelings to himself until he is close to death, he loves Zephia as one might love a mother, or an older sister, for the way that she took him in when he was young.

Meet Some of the Heroes

Indulging Pain Griss
The continent of Elyos was once pushed to the brink of ruin by Sombron, the Fell Dragon. Today, I'm introducing you to one of his servants: Griss, a member of the Four Hounds.
Griss was abandoned by his parents when he was only a child. He was then found by followers of Sombron, the Fell Dragon, and so began his days of making offerings of his own blood to the Fell Dragon...
Wounding himself to prove his loyalty to Sombron, his dedication was eventually recognized, and he joined the Four Hounds. Then, he began to work in the shadows to spread chaos over the continent.
Griss loves to hurt others as much as he loves to be hurt himself. But despite his scary appearance, he does have a genuine love for someone important to him. I hope that one day, he'll come to see the Order of Heroes as family too...
