Vanaheimer (ヴァナ, Vana) is the name of the Realm of Light from Book VII of Fire Emblem Heroes.

Profile

Vanaheimr is a realm separate from Midgard, and is the birthplace and home to a number of gods in the Fire Emblem Heroes pantheon. Also known as the Realm of Light, a portal between Vanaheimr and Midgard exists at Sunbeam Hill within the nation of Askr's borders. It is a tropical realm home to deserts filled with many oases, lush jungles, and sandy beaches.

  • Njörðr - King of Vanaheimr, God of the Sea, and brother of Nerþuz. He is the the only one who can stop Heiðr's suffering.
  • Nerþuz - Goddess of the Land, and sister of Njörðr. She exudes a maternal aura and adores all the many creatures who live upon the land.
  • Seiðr - Goddess of Hope. Descends upon the land to save the people from destruction. Always acts with propriety.
  • Heiðr - Goddess of Vanaheimr and sister of Seiðr. Suffers from a curse connected to Gullveig, which only Njörðr can ease.
  • Gullveig - The Golden Seer that can alter time and bend the future to her whims, who, in the future, has already driven the world to the brink of destruction.
  • Kvasir - The Golden Seer, as she once existed. A lonely goddess who wishes for friendship deep in her heart.
  • Freyr - The Dream-King of Ljósálfheimr, the son of Njörðr, and older brother of Freyja.
  • Freyja - The queen of Dökkálfheimr, the daughter of Njörðr, and younger sister of Freyr.
  • Eitr - A Vanir goddess who attempts to stop Peony and Plumeria from reviving Freyja.

Etymology

Vanaheimr or Vanaheim is one of the Nine Realm on the World-Tree Yggdrasil. It is home to Vanir, a group of gods who are associated with fertility, wisdom, and insight of the future.

  • Vanaheimr seems to be visually inspired by Ryūgū-jō, an underwater palace of the dragon god Ryūjin, wherein the passage of time is slowed down considerably. It also seems to take visual inspirations from Middle Eastern countries, such as Islam and Arabia.
    • Seiðr, who appears to be visually inspired by Oto-hime, the second princess of Ryūgū-jō, serves as a caretaker of Urashima Tarō in one of the most well known stories featuring this location.
