Elyos

Elyos Map

Elyos is a continent and setting of Fire Emblem Engage.

History

One thousand years ago, a great Fell Dragon besieged the land of Elyos, plunging it into darkness. Due in part to the intervention of powerful warriors and the blessings of heroes of other worlds, the Fell Dragon was sealed, bringing peace to the realms.

Realms

Elyos is a relatively circular continent comprised of five distinctive regions known as realms. Four of the realms encompass one of the four intercardinal areas of the outer ring; Firene is situated in the Southwest, Brodia is situated in the Northwest, Elusia is situated in the Northeast, and Solm is situated in the Southeast. The fifth realm, Lythos, is situated in the center of Elyos, separated from the rest of the continent by a large ring of water.

A sixth realm, Gradlon, home of the Fell Dragon Sombron, is a ring shaped landmass that directly encircles Lythos but is surrounded by the remaining four realms. When Sombron was defeated, the Realm was submerged beneath the sea. Upon the restoration of his full power, he raised the realm back above the surface.

Elyos has connections to the various worlds of past Fire Emblem titles similar to Askr through special Emblems. The exact nature of these Emblems and their connections to other worlds is currently unknown.

Fell Xenologue

The Fell Xenologue version of Elyos is mirrored on its y-axis, but otherwise the climates of the independent nations are very similar to the main timeline counter part. Due to the absence of a Divine Dragon, the world is in a heavy state of decline with a darker daylight than the main timeline. Also, the Somniel has crashed into the ocean near the southern point of Lythos.

Nearly all of the inhabitants of the Xenologue Elyos are Corrupted with a vast majority completely unaware that they are such. The only fully living beings are the Fell Dragon twins Nel and Nil (who is secretly Rafal, another sibling) and the Four Winds, Zelestia, Madeline, Gregory and an alternative version of Mauvier.

Etymology

Elyos may derive from Eleos, the Ancient Greek personification of mercy. It may also be a corruption of Elyon, one of the epithets of God from the Bible. Another possible reference may be Elysium, the idyllic afterlife of the heroic and virtuous in Greek mythology.
