Ymir is a character from Fire Emblem Heroes and the Dragon of Life.
Profile
Ymir was very close to Eir when she was young, before being taken by Hel, only being able to communicate with her again after Hel's death. Ymir was the one who bestowed Eir with multiple lives, and as such, feels responsible for the misfortune she has suffered. She gave up her life to save Eir after Ganglöt tried to kill her, and now only exists within Eir.
When Eir was still young, Hel invaded the Realm of Life and Ymir was helpless to stop her. As the dragon of life, she stored the souls of the people slain by Hel within Eir, believing she'd later be able to to later retrieve them and restore them to life. However, Hel took Eir to her domain soon afterwards.
After Ymir reunites with Eir, she requests that Eir search Hel for the souls of Ymir In the hopes she can revive the realm. However, Eir's search continues to put her in conflict with Ganglöt, as well as Líf, who Ganglöt forces to attack the princess. Realizing the people of Hel will never be free so long as Ganglöt lives, Eir commits to facing her directly despite Ymir's misgivings. Indeed, the battle between Eir and Ganglöt quickly turns to Ganglöt's favor, but, realizing Eir is willing to die for the chance to save both the realms of life and death, Ymir formulates a plan that involves both of their self-sacrifice. Eir allows Ganglöt to kill her, and the new ruler of Hel absorbs the Eir's power into herself, unwittingly absorbing Ymir's essence, as well. Ymir taunts Ganglöt, and in her last moments as she destroys both Ganglöt and herself from within, laments all of the pain that she brought upon Eir.
With Ganglöt's defeat, the souls of the Realm of Life are freed, including Eir's biological mother, the former queen. However, the queen sacrifices her own life for Eir's, resurrecting her for a second time. Eir muses over the events and the sacrifices of both her true mother, who she never really met, and Ymir, holding onto the hope that they may somehow meet again as she faces her third chance at life with renewed vigor.
