Yggdrasill

FEH Upper Yggdrasill

Yggdrasill (ユグドラシル Yugudorashiru) is a location in Fire Emblem Heroes. Also called the World-Tree, Yggdrasill encompasses all nine realms. Godlike figures such as Askr and Læraðr were born from it.

Profile

Book VI

When the Rite of Opening is preformed, Yggdrasill has the unique ability to produce the World-Key of Yggdrasill, a special fruit that, when eaten, will grant freedom if someone wishes for it as they die. With the World-Key of Yggdrasill consumed, that individual will instead fully recover. Askr guides Alfonse and the Order of Heroes to where Yggdrasill connects to his domain, where he can preform the Rite of Opening and provide a method of escape from Embla's control.

Book VIII

Yggdrasill is the home of several characters key to the story of Book VIII, including the Book's protagonist, Ratatoskr, and her sisters Hræsvelgr and Níðhöggr. At the start of the Book, Ratatoskr leaves Yggdrasill in search of Alfonse.

Yggdrasill has numerous entrances and exits connected to all of the nine realms, but mortals are typically unable to enter without permission from Læraðr.

Notable Locations

Etymology

In Norse Mythology, Yggdrasill is an immense ash-tree that connects the Nine Realms in the universe with Asgard placed in the highest branches, Midgard in the middle and Hel at the deepest roots. Various animals are said to live among the branches including Níðhöggr, Ratatoskr, Hræsvelgr, and the stags Dainn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr, and Durathror. The tree is also said to tremble signaling the start of Ragnarok.
