Circassia

Circassia is a Releasable of Russia that was added on March 29th, 2023.

Background

In the Medieval Era, Circassia was nominally ruled by the elected Grand Prince, however, individual principalities and tribes were highly autonomous. In the 18th-19th centuries, a central government began to form. The Circassians also dominated the north of the Kuban River in the early medieval and ancient times, but with the raids of the Mongol Empire, Golden Horde and the Crimean Khanate, they were withdrawn south of the Kuban, and their reduced borders stretched from the Taman Peninsula to North Ossetia. During the Medieval Era, Circassian lords subjugated and vassalized the neighboring Karachay-Balkars and Ossetians. The term Circassia is also used as the collective name of Circassian states established on Circassian territory, such as Zichia.

Legally and internationally, the Treaty of Belgrade of 1739 between Austria and Turkey provided for the recognition of the independence of Eastern Circassia (Kabarda). Both the Russian Empire and the Ottoman Empire recognized it, and the great powers at the time witnessed the treaty. The Congress of Vienna held in the period between 1814-1815 also stipulated the recognition of the independence of Circassia. In 1837, Circassian leaders sent letters to European countries requesting legal recognition. Following this, the United Kingdom recognized Circassia. However, during the Russian-Circassian War, the Russian Empire did not recognize Circassia as an independent region, and treated it as Russian land under rebel occupation, despite having no control or ownership over the region. Russian generals referred to the Circassians not by their ethnic name, but as "mountaineers", “bandits", and "mountain scum".

Strategy

Starting Moves

The first nations you should invade are Georgia and Armenia. Justify a war on both nations and spawn 60K troops. For more MP you should enable the Military Service Act. Remember to form alliances with any other players in the region.

After the justification is done, invade Georgia's northernmost city and wait for their troops to come to you. After your troops have defeated their troops, take the rest of the nation (your troops may move slow due to the Caucasus Mountains) except for their capital. Wait for your troops to heal and then take their capital. Use the same tactics on Armenia.

Justify a war against Azerbaijan and once ready, declare war. Invade their city by Armenia and wait for their troops to defeated by their entrenchment. Take all of the nation except for their capital which you can select in the peace terms.

Now that you have access to the Black Sea and Caspian Sea, build at least one destroyer in both Seas. Given your new position in the Caucasus Region you can expand into all four directions. To the North you can expand into other Russian releasables, in the South you can try to take Turkey, to the West you can invade Bulgaria or Romania, and in the East you can expand into Turkmenistan.

You should also start trading with other nations and build factories for tanks.

Northern Route

The North should be pretty easy to invade as it should be filled with smaller Russian releasables. Invade them using the same tactics as you used in the Caucasus. If Crimea, Donetsk or Luhansk are independent make sure to take them as well to further advance your position in the Black Sea. Use your destroyer(s) to soften up enemy troops.

Eastern Route

To the East lies the Central Asian countries. The first one you want to take is Turkmenistan as it is the closest and gives you access to other nations' borders such as Uzbekistan and Afghanistan spawn 80K troops (you should have a higher MP capacity by now) and train them for Arid Specialization. Once you are ready send your troops, escorted by a destroyer to prevent any unwanted resistance, to Turkmenistan's border.

Use AI luring to defeat the Turkmenistani troops. Once the enemy troops have been defeated, wait for your troops to heal and take the cities one-by-one to reduce attrition.

From here it's recommended to invade Uzbekistan. Use the same tactics as you did for Turkmenistan but with extra troops and be more cautious with how you move your troops as Uzbekistan is filled with mountains which will make your troops suffer from attrition. From here you can invade Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. You can also invade Afghanistan but be prepared for a long war of attrition taking the Afghan cities.

Western Route

In the West, Bulgaria and Romania are ready for you to invade. So does Ukraine but it is recommended to take the previously mentioned nations before invading Ukraine.

Bulgaria should be the first nation you take. Spawn 80K troops and send the infantry and your destroyer to the Bulgarian coast. From there you take a city and defeat Bulgaria's troops via AI luring. After defeating their troops, take every city but the capital. You can either select the capital in your peace terms or invade after your troops have been fully healed. Use the same tactics on Romania but be prepared for your troops to move slowly due to the mountainous in Romania. You can also invade Moldova, which should be pretty easy. Or you can invade Slovakia

For Ukraine, get extra infantry, and train them all for Winter Specialization. Use your destroyer(s) to soften up the Ukranian troops before invading with infantry. Take all cities except for square cities which can be selected via force peace. If you plan to invade Turkey later, invade Greece.

Southern Route

It is recommended to execute the previous routes before this one as you will need lots of MP to take on Turkey. Spawn Tanks and infantry near the European and Asian sides of Turkey.

If Turkey is an AI, defeat their troops via AI luring and close in on them from both sides. If Turkey is a player, blockade the Black Sea with extra destroyers and submarines and fortify your lands in the Caucasus as well as your cities in Greece/ Bulgaria which border Turkey. Declare war and send your tanks into cities without troops, wait for Turkey to send its troops to those cities and watch your entrenchment cripple their forces and keep taking smaller cities, while sending in smaller units to reinforce the already taken cities. Avoid taking Istanbul and its capital as the heavily populated cities will hurt your infantry -- you can select those in the force peace.

After taking Turkey, you can expand into the Levant and Iraq. Make sure to train your military for Arid Specialization while taking the Middle Eastern countries.

Threats

  • Russia trying to retake you.
  • Ukraine annexing you for more land.
  • Other Russian releasables expanding.
