Zanzibar is a releasable from Tanzania located in Africa . It was added on November 11, 2022.

Background

Zanzibar is an insular semi-autonomous province which united with Tanganyika in 1964 to form the United Republic of Tanzania. It is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean, 25–50 kilometres (16–31 mi) off the coast of the mainland, and consists of many small islands and two large ones: Unguja (the main island, referred to informally as Zanzibar) and Pemba Island. The capital is Zanzibar City, located on the island of Unguja. Its historic centre, Stone Town, is a World Heritage Site.

In 1896, Zanzibar fought the shortest war in history, the Anglo-Zanzibar War, which lasted 38 minutes. Over 500 Zanzibari died in the war, only 1 British sailor was wounded.

In April 1964, the republic merged with mainland Tanganyika. This United Republic of Tanganyika and Zanzibar was soon renamed, blending the two names, as the United Republic of Tanzania, within which Zanzibar remains an autonomous region.

  • Any country invading you for an easy island colony. (UNCOMMON-RARE)
  • Any country forming African Union. (RARE)

Strategy

While Zanzibar is pretty weak and has no capabilities, it can surely conquer the western Indian Ocean. However, it's unlikely it will ever gets released from Tanzania in-game.

Strategy A - Island Colonies

Before starting to colonize the neighboring islands, make around 1-2 electronic factories, either in the capital or the 2 cities located on the other island. That's because we'll going to boast giant amount of manpower!

First, declare on Comoros, it will serve as your first base. Then, invade the neighboring Mayotte, which isn't required but can serve as a recruitment center like the Comoros.

At this point, you should convert into Fascism, while it's your own choice, it makes military upkeep much cheaper and gets you stability on offensive wars. However, you can also go Communism through stepping stones to get more factory output, which can fuel your economy compared to the military-focused Fascism and Nationalism.

Then, go east of Madagascar and declare on Reunion and Mauritius, which both of them will add around a million worth of population. At this point, you have around 2,064,979, as starting population of course. It's recommended you can change into the Limited conscription law, for more manpower to boast.

With the 103,248~ (number from combined starting population) manpower from the conscription law, you can make recruitment centers to plan your grand invasion on Madagascar, since it boasts a population of 3.2 million, which already means it can boast a lot of manpower for your needs. Also, it has 5 Titanium and also 5 Chromium, and also 2 Oil to fuel your navy.

Grand Invasion - Madagascar

Getting Ready

With the income you got from the Electronic factories, there is no fear for deficit from the brigades you'll make. Get around 30 to 50 thousand troops in Comoros and Reunion, and train them until they get an above average ranking, thus specialize them for jungle and mountainous conditions for each one. You can buy around ½ units of Oil to make submarines, otherwise, you can make 3 frigates with that amount.

Invasion

When you have started the GRAND invasion, place the naval unit near the Home Guard to cause as much casualties as possible, as they come trained. You can start by getting the units on the land, thus luring the AI, meaning attrition is considered. If the Home Guard goes in the south, make the unit (from Reunion) stay there for entrenchment until the home guard comes, and the other one (from Comoros) continue taking the land. That generates more attrition for the AI to comprehend from the harsh terrain.

Post-Madagascar

Once you finished taking over Madagascar, you can start taking over either Tanzania or the neighboring Kenya, or you can expand to Mozambique, them having 3-5 types of resources for all of them combined. Since you took over Madagascar, you can make Steel and Motor factories, yet Tungsten won't be easy to get.

Strategy B - Tanzania and Neighbors

You can start by making Electronic Factories, like in the previous strategy. Eventually, you can get around 60,000+ troops to take over Dar es Salaam, which is where the Home Guard is located, also being the largest city. You can make more brigades to take over the south, eventually reaching the west then reaching Dodoma, the capital. When your invasion is done, you can invade with easy the other neighbors, with Democratic Republic of the Congo being an exception, due for them being a player much more often and is much larger.

Tanzania is a player

While this is really rare, because nobody plays Tanzania, in case this happens, which just means they'll reintegrate you. Make enough income for around 60,000 troops. along with your home guard. Because you're an island, you can also make a navy to lure the troops in. Thus, with all the casualties, you can start taking over the west and eventually reaching the north of south, closing in to Dodoma. Thus, you can continue your conquest in the rest of Africa.
