Trieste is a releasable of Italy located in Europe
. It borders the countries of
Slovenia and
Italy upon being released.
Background
Trieste is located at the head of the Gulf of Trieste, on a narrow strip of Italian territory lying between the Adriatic Sea and Slovenia. The city has a long coastline and is surrounded by grassland, forest, and karstic areas. The city has a subtropical climate, unusual in relation to its relatively high latitude, due to marine breezes. In 2022, it had a population of about 204,302. Trieste belonged to the Habsburg monarchy from 1382 until 1918. As a prosperous trading hub in the Mediterranean region, Trieste became the fourth largest city of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (after Vienna, Budapest, and Prague). Trieste underwent an economic revival during the 1930s, and the Free Territory of Trieste became a major site of the struggle between the Eastern and Western blocs after the Second World War. Trieste, a deep-water port, is a maritime gateway for northern Italy, Germany, Austria and Central Europe. It is considered the end point of the maritime Silk Road, with its connections to the Suez Canal and Turkey. The city lies at the intersection of Latin, Slavic and Germanic cultures where Central Europe meets the Mediterranean Sea, and is home to diverse ethnic groups and religious communities. |

Strategy
note that this strategy assumes that
Italy has fractured into all of its releasables.
Playing as Trieste is extremely difficult, as you are surrounded by countries that are usually players. Due to only having a population of 216,115, you only have a manpower pool of 60,000 to work with. To form your only formable, Padania you need to occupy 9 separate
Italian releasables. Start by converting your manpower to infantry, and using these to invade
Friuli. Using the money you have just earned, make an electronics factory in your only city and sell as many
Electronics to AI nations as possible.
