Chechnya (Russian: Чечня́, IPA: [tɕɪtɕˈnʲa]; Chechen: Нохчийчоь, romanized: Noxçiyçö), officially the Chechen Republic, is a republic of Russia. It is situated in the North Caucasus of Eastern Europe, close to the Caspian Sea. The republic forms a part of the North Caucasian Federal District, and shares land borders with the country of Georgia to its south; with the Russian republics of Dagestan, Ingushetia, and North Ossetia-Alania to its east, north, and west; and with Stavropol Krai to its northwest.

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Checheno-Ingush ASSR split into two parts: the Republic of Ingushetia and the Chechen Republic. The latter proclaimed the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, which sought independence. Following the First Chechen War of 1994–1996 with Russia, Chechnya gained de facto independence as the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, although de jure it remained a part of Russia. Russian federal control was restored in the Second Chechen War of 1999–2009, with Chechen politics being dominated by Akhmad Kadyrov, and later his son Ramzan Kadyrov.

The republic covers an area of 17,300 square kilometres (6,700 square miles), with a population of over 1.5 million residents as of 2021. It is home to the indigenous Chechens, part of the Nakh peoples, and of primarily Muslim faith. Grozny is the capital and largest city.

Strategies

Anti-Russian Strategy

Due to the collapse of Russia, you have recently gained full independence and sovereignty from your former Russian overlord and forefather. But the possibility of the inevitable movement for the Reunification of Russia, threatens you once more. Which is why this strategy was purposefully made for you.

Start off by building Fertilizer factories, and buy 4 Phosphate to mandate the upkeep required in Grozny, your only city and capital. Remember to sell the Fertilizer that the factory produces to make some quick cash to AI countries; as well as researching Factory Output and Tax Collection in the Economic tree inside the Technology tab to further gain more from your very limited economy. Begin to justify war goals on other releasables that have recently also gained independence from Russia in the Caucasus region.

Start to recruit and train your freshly-made Infantry divisions. Recommended limit is at between 30k-50k troops due to your tiny and limited economy. Make sure to research the Infantry tech tree upwards to Skeletonize Equipment and High-capacity weapons. If you have enough budget, start building an Electronics factory, Steel factory, and a Civilian factory all inside Grozny.

Trivia

  • Why are Chechens feared? - Fear and negative stereotypes of Chechens stem largely from the history of the Russian conquest of Chechnya and Dagestan, when Russia conquered the Chechen territory in 1859 and merged it with the Russian Empire.
  • Russia waged two wars against Chechnya from 1994 to 2000. In both wars, Russia heavily bombed Chechnya, flattening Grozny and causing tens of thousands of civilian deaths. Russia unleashes a heavy bombing campaign. Cities and towns were reduced to rubble and ash.
  • The Chechen people are one of the 190 nationally recognized ethnic groups in the Russian Federation.
  • There are currently Chechen-majority military units and divisions both active in Ukraine and Russia, who were forced to fight against each other in the "special military operation" conducted by the Russians. The Azov Battalion (A primarily neo-Nazi unit serving in Ukraine) shot bullets stuffed with pig lard at Chechen troops on the Russian side, as to both serve as a warning to pro-Russian Chechen fighters and as an insult to the Islamic world.
