Background
Kachin is one of the 14 states and regions of Myanmar (formerly known as Burma), located in the northernmost part of the country. It borders China to the north and northeast, India to the northwest, and Shan State to the south and southeast. The capital city of Kachin is Myitkyina.
Kachin is known for its rugged and mountainous terrain, as well as its diverse ethnic groups. The Kachin people are the largest ethnic group in the state, but there are also significant populations of Shan, Bamar, and other ethnic groups.
