Catalonia is a releasable nation located in Europe . It releases from
Spain and
France.
Background
Catalonia is an autonomous community on the northeastern corner of Catalonia consists of four provinces: Barcelona, Girona, Lleida, and Tarragona. The capital and largest city is Barcelona, the second-most populated municipality in In the late 8th century, various counties were established by the Frankish Kingdom across and near the eastern Pyrenees as a defensive barrier against Muslim invasions. The eastern counties were united under the rule of the Frankish vassal, the count of Barcelona. In the 10th century the County of Barcelona became progressively independent. In 1137, Barcelona and the Kingdom of Aragon were united by marriage under the Crown of Aragon. Within the Crown, the Catalan counties adopted a common polity known as Principality of Catalonia, developing its own institutional system, such as courts (parliament), Generalitat and constitutions, becoming the base for the Crown of Aragon's naval power, trade and expansionism in the Mediterranean. In the later Middle Ages, Catalan literature flourished. During the last Medieval centuries natural disasters, social turmoils and military conflicts affected the Principality. In 1469, the king of Aragon and the queen of Castile were married and ruled their realms together, retaining all of their distinct institutions and legislation. During the Franco-Spanish War (1635–1659), Catalonia revolted (1640–1652) against a large and burdensome presence of the royal army in its territory, being briefly proclaimed a republic under French protection, until it was largely reconquered by the Spanish army. By the Treaty of the Pyrenees (1659), the Spanish Crown ceded the northern parts of Catalonia, mostly the Roussillon, to France. During the War of the Spanish Succession (1701–1714), the Crown of Aragon sided against the Bourbon Philip V of Spain; following Catalan defeat on 11 September 1714, Philip V imposed a unifying administration across Spain, enacting the Nueva Planta decrees which, like in the other realms of the Crown of Aragon, suppressed the Catalan institutions and rights. This led to the eclipse of Catalan as a language of government and literature, replaced by Spanish. Throughout the 18th century, Catalonia experienced economic growth. In the 19th century, Catalonia was severely affected by the Napoleonic and Carlist Wars. In the second third of the century, Catalonia experienced industrialisation. As wealth from the industrial expansion grew, it saw a cultural renaissance coupled with incipient nationalism while several workers movements appeared. With the establishment of the Second Spanish Republic (1931–1939), the Generalitat was restored as a Catalan autonomous government. After the Spanish Civil War, the Francoist dictatorship enacted repressive measures, abolishing Catalan self-government and banning the official use of the Catalan language. After a period of autarky, from the late 1950s through to the 1970s Catalonia saw rapid economic growth, drawing many workers from across In the 2010s there has been growing support for Catalan independence. On 27 October 2017, the Catalan Parliament declared unilaterally independence following a disputed referendum. The Spanish Senate voted in favour of enforcing direct rule by removing the Catalan government and calling a snap regional election for 21 December. On 2 November, the Spanish Supreme Court imprisoned seven former ministers of the Catalan government on charges of rebellion and misuse of public funds, while several others—including then-President of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont—fled to other European countries. |

Strategy
The hardness level of being Catalonia depends on if
Spain/
France is A.I. or not. If one or both of them are players, try to ally them. If they refuse to join your alliance, then, prepare for a defensive war against them, and ally other major powers. In any case, you would most likely try to form
Crown of Aragon so if Spain is broken up, invade
Valencia and
Aragon unless Spain is united and a player in which case try and negotiate them, if they say no then leave them for later preferably. After that Take
Andorra, at which point the next part will depend in if
Italy is split up or united. The best option is that Italy is split and AI ,in which case, quickly invade
Sardinia,
Naples and
Sicily. After that try and negotiate
Corsica with France if its not freed and form. If Italy is Not broken up but Ai, then just lure the homeguard in Sicily, preferably towards a submarine. After that take the rest of Italy, ask for Corsica or negotiate and form. If Italy is a player, then maybe develop your cities before invading them and focus on technology. After Developing and getting technology make a decent navy and invade Italy through Sardinia or Sicily or ally France or maybe even
Germany so they can help you in the north. Take the Italian lands and give the rest to your Ally/s and ask France or whoever owns it for Corsica for it and if they say yes, You can form The Crown of Aragon.
Cities
Catalonia has 4 cities, its largest city and capital being Barcelona. The 2nd largest city is Zaragoza, which produces 1/5th of the nation's oil. It's 3rd largest city and 2nd largest port is Mataro, which also produces 1/5th of the nation's Oil and is a useful port due to close proximity to potential threats such as
France and
Italy.
