Alaska

Alaska is a releasable nation of the United States in North America. It is partially located within the Arctic Circle.

Background

The first people came to Alaska about 15,000 years ago following herd animals across the Bering Land Bridge. The Amerind migration group continued south to populate all of the Americas. The second migration across the Bering Land Bridge brought the Na-Dene and Eskimo-Aleut. They arrived in Alaska about 12,000 BP and moved through the north to populate Alaska and Canada. In 1728, Vitus Bering, a Danish explorer, documents the Bering Strait between Asia and North America. In 1741, a Russian expedition led by Vitus Bering, along with George Steller, made the first "discovery" of Alaska, landing near what today is Kayak Island. In 1780, a Japanese whaling ship ran aground near the western end of the Aleutian Islands. Rats from the ship reached the nearest island giving it the name "Rat Island." In April of 1867 The United States purchased Alaska from Russia for $7.2 million dollars in gold. In 1872 gold was discovered near Sitka. In 1900 the Capital of Alaska was moved from Sitka to Juneau. During World War II in 1942, Japan invaded the Aleutian Islands of Attu and Kiska. It would be a year before the American military would re-take the islands. In 1959, Alaska became the 49th State. President Eisenhower signed the official declaration on January 3, 1959.

Alaska has mediocre amount of resources, however these resources make up over half of its economy.

Military

Due to Alaska being a releasable, it has no army once released. It also has the minimum maximum manpower capacity making it weaker than all of its neighbors.

Threats

You wouldn't have too many threats because of your harsh landscape and biome, but some are:

Strategy

Note: The strategy hasn't been tested yet and it is mostly dependent on luck.

First collapse as the United States, you can do this by either waiting for the cooldown to end and develop Alaska in the meantime or going to a one city nation such as Bermuda, justifying a liberation war goal, conquering it, and then releasing Alaska in the concede terms screen. Afterward, when you play as Alaska, begin developing, place government and research spending on maximum after getting a stable economy, whether it be through city developing or electronics trades. Either way it's going to be cheap due to Alaska's low population. After gaining a stable economy you should invade a small nation with a square city in it, like Cuba or Haiti, with government spending on maximum, unrest will go down quickly and you can produce tanks, giving you so many more options. After producing a fair army, begin taking more of the Caribbean and some small Latin American nations, taking Texas and later the Confederate States will give massive benefits later. Also, after getting your first tank-producing city up and running, government spending is really no longer needed, and it will quickly become expensive when you begin annexing larger nations.

Taking the former American states is a good plan here, invading Cascadia gives you a great spot to invade California, giving you Los Angeles, taking Hawaii will give you more taxes and more land, which is always good. Take New England and justify on Canada. If they are an ai they should be easy to take at this point, train infantry to winter specialization, and getting transport planes to take the Northern Canadian cities is recommended, even as a neighbor to these cities they are extremely costly (in terms of losses) and annoying to take. So either build and supply an aircraft factory or buy the aircraft parts from someone; make sure you have enough oil.

After taking Canada, the formerly complete United States should be not much harder, considering they are an ai and they have no troops, taking all the American releasables gives you plenty of fronts to invade from, have arid specialized troops in California and tanks in central Canada, use a large stack of tanks to take major East Coast cities (Washington, New York, Baltimore etc.) and then have troops invade the mountainous areas. After the final stand of the United States has ended, annex them. Justify on Mexico, taking them should not be a problem at this point.

Also at this point, you should at the very least be 5th on rankings, having taken pretty well all of North America, any threats will likely be obsolete, unless a China Russia or European power who's done way too much expanding comes around wanting to colonize you. In this type of situation, mostly just stay on the defensive, the advantage to being isolated in the Americas is that, well, you're isolated in the Americas. Keep any enemy fleets and transports at bay using your hopefully massive fleet, and keep anti-aircraft all along your coasts, make sure to keep a massive stack of troops in major cities as well so even if they land, you have defensive troops everywhere and can deal with the invasion forces. If you've managed to exhaust their offensives you should move to take African colonies if they have any (really only in the case of a European opponent), if they have no colonies they are sending attack forces from, move on to their homeland.

What you should try to do in any case here is trying to white peace with the enemy, send an offer when you kill a significant amount of their military, send one when you take their nearby colonies, send one when you establish a beachhead on their coasts. Send one when you push out of that beachhead and start taking cities; unless they're Communist or have way too much stability, they should be starting to fall apart now from the massive losses of troops and now cities. usually players leave after they see they can't hold themselves together, if they leave, proceed to conquer and annex all of them.

If that happened in your favor or no one attacks you, you can continue to expand; establish colonies, attack ai powers, everything helps. Soon you will be the number 1 superpower and now no one can stand in your way.

But what if Brazil is a player and is also aggressive?

If a Brazilis a major threat to you and refuses to become allies with you, this most likely means he plans to invade you. If this is the case, then spawn 4k tanks and jungle specialize them, and in the meantime get 3 destroyers, 3 submarines, and 2 battleships. Be sure to buy a lot of Oil in order to maintain them. Once everything is done, begin justifying. Once the justification finishes, land on one of its major cities on the coast. From there, Blitzkrieg him and take him out.

However, declaring war on him may not be the best for you, as Brazil could have been justifying on you while you were preparing. In this scenario, it is still a good idea to buff your army as shown in the above strategy for Brazil. If you think this is the case or don't feel strong enough to go on the offensive, then build fortifications in areas where your jungle is most dense. This will de-buff the onslaught of Brazilian troops, as he will likely auto capture your territory. Your warships will further do damage to the Brazilian land units and will easy strike down any Brazilian aircraft. Remember to keep all your warships together in one place, so they won't get easily get sunk all at once by a single naval unit strong against them. Eventually, his war effort will begin to decline. From here, you can either end this war diplomatically, or go on the offensive and advance into Brazilian land. If you choose the latter, it is recommended to take the above strategy for Brazil.

Trivia

  • Prior to 11/02/2023, Alaska used to have 4 cities.
  • Funnily enough, Alaska has a city called Unalaska.
