Description

The Mega Slow is a large and tough enemy which only appears on Hardcore mode. While it has slightly slow speed, it has very high health for its debut. This makes it a very dangerous threat. Additionally, it has 15% defense, reducing the effectiveness of some towers. It also has stun immunity, which makes the Electroshocker and Warden only slow it down and makes it immune to knockback.

The Mega Slow can be spawned by the Void Reaver and Grave Digger, in Hardcore mode only. The Mystery Boss can also spawn the Mega Slow upon its death in Hardcore mode.

Appearance

The first and current Mega Slow is a large enemy. It is slightly smaller than the Giant Boss. It has a reflective green skin color and is faceless. It has tumors on its left arm and head. Its torso, sleeves and legs are granite black. It also has a metal armband on its right arm and has hooks growing on both of its shoulders. It also has a small black axe stabbed into its back. It walks slightly hunchbacked and has a twisted left leg.

The second Mega Slow was similar to its current version except it had only one hook on its shoulder.

Strategy

  • Because of the Mega Slow's early appearance and the increased prices of towers and upgrades in Hardcore mode, it may be the downfall of most players if they are unprepared for it.
    • For this reason, Farms are heavily recommended so that you will be able to afford more expensive upgrades sooner.
      • Depending on the length of the map, most players can continue farming until the Mega Slow reaches the main defense, assuming it is set up in the back.
    • Additionally, if multiple Lead Bosses were spawned from Mysteries on previous waves, the Mega Slow's debut can easily lead to a defeat on a shorter map.
  • High DPS towers, such as a couple Level 2 Golden Minigunners, Accelerators or Turrets, are highly recommended against the Mega Slow.
    • If you are using Turret to take down the Mega Slow, extra towers may be required depending on the map as it has less DPS than Accelerator.
  • Level 3 Golden Scout and Level 2 Golden Soldier spam are effective against the Mega Slow if there are enough of them, although towers with lead detection, such as the Golden Pyromancer or Mortar, will also be needed to deal with the Lead Bosses that spawn before the Mega Slow.
  • The Military Base's Tanks and Humvee 3s can be effective against this enemy, as they deal full collision damage to defense enemies. Once the Mega Slow begins to spawn in hordes, however, their effectiveness is reduced.
  • A Level 4 Golden Scout can easily take down the Mega Slow for a relatively cheap price.
  • You can use slowing towers, such as the Toxic Gunner, Electroshocker, Warden or Sledger to slow this enemy down.
    • As the Mega Slow has the stun immunity, stunning towers like the Electroshocker will only slow it down instead of completely stopping it. Additionally, it prevents it from being knocked back.
    • Freezing towers and the Warden can only slow it down for a shorter period of time compared to an average-sized enemy, due to its large size.
    • The Electroshocker, Freezer, Cryomancer and Frost Blaster can also remove the Mega Slow's defense, allowing your towers to deal more damage.

Trivia

  • The appearance of the Mega Slow is similar to the old design of the Boss4 from Tower Battles.
  • Weirdly, the health of the Mega Slow was increased in MEGA Servers, despite it not being able to spawn in a MEGA Server without admin commands.
  • When the Mega Slow was frozen by the Sledger prior to the 23rd of March 2022, it had a chance to create a huge wall of ice.
    • This was due to one of its hooks being able to fall off of itself and fall far below the map, and the ice would attempt to encompass the hook.
