Description
The Soul is a Hardcore mode enemy that cannot be attacked by towers without hidden detection. While its health is low for its debut, it is quick and can take unprepared defenses by surprise. As it is a ghost enemy, units cannot collide with it. Anything that deals unit collision damage also cannot deal damage to it.
The Soul Stealer and Void Reaver can spawn the Soul. The Mystery can spawn the Soul upon its death in Hardcore mode (wave 46 onwards).
Appearance
The Soul is a white translucent enemy. It emits light when it runs and is faceless.
It will fade completely, then fade back into view at regular intervals.
Strategy
- The Soul debuts late in the game, so late game high DPS towers like the Golden Minigunner and Turret should be used.
- The Accelerator is very powerful against Souls, though do note that it may lock onto another enemy (like the Void Reaver), letting Souls slip past.
- The Level 4+ Ace Pilot can grant hidden detection to towers like Ranger that do not have it.
- For splash damage towers that cannot target Souls, such as the Mortar, if a Soul is caught up in an explosion, they will be dealt splash damage.
- This means that another detectable enemy must be near the Soul for a splash damage tower to hit the Soul.
- As Souls spawn in hordes, towers that can damage multiple enemies at once like the Golden Pyromancer or Executioner can be effective.
- All units that only deal collision damage such as the Humvee and Elf are completely useless against this enemy.
- You can use the Frost Blaster, Freezer or Warden to slow this down, though it is not necessary.
- The Sledger, Cryomancer and Electroshocker, while not having hidden detection, can hit Souls if another detectable enemy is near it, as they can hit multiple enemies, but this rarely occurs.
- On Wave 50 of Hardcore mode, the Void Reaver may summon a lot of Souls, while also stunning your towers.
- Due to their immunities and high speed, they are extremely dangerous when paired with the Void Reaver's stunning abilities.
- The Medic is highly recommended to cleanse the stuns and let your towers deal with the Souls before they run out of range.
- The Golden Minigunner and Turret fare better against Souls than the Accelerator in this case, as they do not lock onto the Void Reaver.
- The Brawler can also be used to deal with Souls spawned from the Void Reaver due to their high DPS, stun immunity, and area damage with its Reposition ability.
- Once the Void Reaver's Void Rage activates, it is no longer able to spawn Souls. Thus, get it to half health as fast as possible to reduce the risk of Souls spawning and overrunning your defenses.
- Due to their immunities and high speed, they are extremely dangerous when paired with the Void Reaver's stunning abilities.
