Description

The Slow King is a slightly slow and tanky enemy that appears in Hardcore mode. It is similar to the Mega Slow, but has more health and faster speed. The Slow King also has Shield Health, and this is attached to its forcefield that it spawns with. With this forcefield, the Slow King has a high defense value. Without its shield, it will be reduced to 10%, regardless of what defense it spawned with. If it loses defense, the defense it changes to will include the defense reduction. For example, if its defense got reduced from 80% to 75%, it will have 5% defense after losing all of its Shield Health. The Slow King also has Stun Immunity, meaning that the Warden and Electroshocker can only slow it down, while knockback towers cannot knock it back.

The Slow King can be spawned by the Void Reaver. The Mystery Boss can spawn the Slow King upon its death in Hardcore mode, wave 41 onwards.

Appearance

The current Slow King is similar to the previous version, except it has a huge slash across its face.

When the Slow King spawns, it has a translucent pink forcefield surrounding it. This forcefield disappears when the Slow King loses its shield health.

The original Slow King had green reflective skin. It had tumors on both arms. Its torso and legs were black granite, and it wore diamond-plated armbands. Its cape was black granite and had brown hooks on its shoulders. It wore a slightly tilted dark green granite crown, which indicates that this enemy was royalty. It emitted green particles from its torso and purple particles from its arms. On its torso, was a pink gem. It was faceless and had a twisted left leg.

Strategy

  • The forcefield around the Slow King can be problematic if not taken care of. This is because it gives the Slow King a very high defense value.
    • The Pursuit can be useful here because of its high DPS and its missiles dealing full damage to defense enemies.
    • While being relatively slow, it allows other enemies, like the Lava and Fallen Titan, to go much further along the path.
    • Defense dropping towers like the Freezer, Pyromancer or Jester can be used to drop its defense, allowing your towers to deal more damage to it.
  • The Electroshocker, Warden or Sledger can be used to slow this down.
    • Do note that due to its large size, freezing towers and the Warden will slow it down for a shorter amount of time.
    • The Slow King also has stun immunity, which means that stunning towers like the Warden can only slow it down instead of stopping it completely while knockback towers like the Brawler cannot knock it back.
  • After the Slow King's forcefield disappears, other towers with high DPS, like the Minigunner, Turret, Accelerator and Ranger, can be used to defeat the Slow King.
