Description
The Mystery Boss is an enemy that will spawn a random enemy upon its death. The enemy spawned depends on the mode and wave. As the name implies, the Mystery Boss mostly spawns bosses that have high health or enemies that are quick, meaning that it is a very dangerous enemy. Its health depends on the mode you are playing on.
The Mystery Boss appears in Hardcore mode. It also appears in the Sandbox exclusive Legacy Molten, Legacy Fallen and Golden modes.
The Mystery Boss is spawned by the Mystery Summoner, Summoner Boss, Necromancer Boss and Void Reaver. The Grave Digger used to be able to summon it in the Easy mode. If a map has the Enemies Beta modifier active, it is not spawned by these enemies as they spawn the Breaker4 instead.
The Mystery Boss is replaced by the Breaker4 in any map with the Enemies Beta modifier active.
Appearance
The Mystery Boss is a large translucent humanoid with a glowing orange question mark on its torso. All of its body parts are colored indigo and are made of a glass material. Its left leg is twisted and its head is pointing slightly downwards as it walks. It is also faceless.
Enemies Spawned
The Mystery Boss is able to spawn more enemies after its debut. Italic names can be spawned from the Mystery Boss's debut.

Strategy
- High DPS towers are recommended, supported by the DJ Booth and Commander.
- The Mystery Boss' random nature is not as impactful as the Mystery's. However, some enemies still pose a significant threat without the right towers.
- An overflow of Fallen Heroes, Slow Kings or Molten Titans may be overwhelming with their massive combined health. In a similar vein, the Speedy King can speed up such enemies, making it very dangerous.
- In general, high DPS towers accompanied by support towers is the best answer against all high health enemies.
- Soul Bosses may be dangerous without adequate hidden defense.
- Hidden defense should be strong. Most high DPS towers have hidden detection, so Soul Bosses should not be a major issue with them.
- An overflow of Fallen Heroes, Slow Kings or Molten Titans may be overwhelming with their massive combined health. In a similar vein, the Speedy King can speed up such enemies, making it very dangerous.
- As Mystery Bosses and their spawns come in hordes, towers that can deal damage to multiple enemies like the Mortar, Rocketeer, Gladiator and Executioner are effective.
- However, some of these towers may not fare so well against high health enemies. High DPS towers should be used to counter those.
- Be aware that you do not earn any cash from damaging enemies that the Mystery Boss spawns in every mode.
- The enemies that spawn from the Mystery Boss do not need to be killed for wave progression to occur.
- If you are speedrunning a map, you should focus on killing the Mystery Bosses first by setting your towers' targeting to Weakest before moving onto the enemies that spawn.
- Be aware that the spawned enemies may outrun your towers if you switch target settings.
- Using towers that can damage multiple enemies can remedy this.
- Be aware that the spawned enemies may outrun your towers if you switch target settings.
- If you are speedrunning a map, you should focus on killing the Mystery Bosses first by setting your towers' targeting to Weakest before moving onto the enemies that spawn.
- The Sledger, Frost Blaster and Electroshocker are probably the best slowing towers against Mystery Bosses as they can hit multiple enemies at once, though others like the Toxic Gunner are still viable.
- Be aware of the enemies' size and immunities, which may cause some of these towers to be less effective.
- Some enemies from the Mystery Boss like the Giant Boss have defense, so defense dropping towers can be useful.

Trivia
- There was a glitch whereby the Mystery Boss, after its death, could go to the next turn and stop there with its walking animation still playing. This was just a visual bug and did not affect gameplay in any way.
- For some reason, the Mystery Boss debuts on wave 29 for Golden mode.
- However, the text associated with the Mystery Boss appeared on wave 32, like Molten and Fallen modes.
- The same thing occurs with the Fallen Hero, Molten Titan, 24 Karat and Super Toxic which all can be spawned on wave 38 from the Mystery Boss, which is before their debut on wave 39 on Fallen, Molten, Golden modes and, formerly, Polluted Wasteland II, respectively. However, this is intentional.
- Prior to the Entity System Update, summoned enemies from the Mystery Boss used to say "Mystery's ______" instead of "Mystery Boss's ______".
- The question mark on the Mystery Boss is a re-textured version of the Question Mark accessory from the Roblox catalog.
- Prior to the Entity System Update, Mystery Bosses summoned by the Summoner Boss could be stuck in the air.
