"Tankier enemies incoming!
They may be slow, but don't let your guard down! A horde of these can soak up a lot of damage..."

Commander dialogue on Wave 7 (Polluted Wasteland Fallen)
"Incoming new zombies!"
―Beginning of Wave 7 (Pre-Overhaul, Polluted Wasteland Golden & Fallen)

Description

The Radioactive was an enemy that appeared exclusively in Polluted Wasteland Fallen mode and was a replacement for the Heavy in Polluted Wasteland. The Radioactive had a slightly slower speed than the Quick but also had significantly more health than it.

The Radioactive was spawned by the Dark Necromancer and the Mystery upon its death in Polluted Wasteland Fallen mode.

Appearance

The Radioactive had green skin and bright white eyes, with what appeared to be green radiation fluid leaking out of its eyes and mouth. Its torso and legs were metal-plated dark green. It also wore a radioactive pack on its back.

Its appearance was similar to that of the Abnormal.

Strategy

  • Place your defenses in the center of the map to deal as much damage as possible.
    • In hordes, the Demoman, Rocketeer and Mortar can wipe them out.
      • However, these towers have a slow projectile speed, which means that the Radioactive may be able to escape the explosion radius of these towers, due to its high speed.
      • Additionally, they do very low damage at lower levels, so this is not recommended
  • You can use towers like Freezer, Frost Blaster or Electroshocker to slow these down, as this enemy is fast.
  • As the Radioactive spawns quite early, you need cheap, yet effective, towers.
  • It is important to defend against the Radioactive early on during the game, as their high health and fast speed will easily overpower you.
  • A Militant can fare well against Radioactives early on during the game.
