"Is that a living experiement[sic]?! I didn't think they were real!
Take them out before they heal the enemies around them!"

Commander dialogue on Wave 16 (Intermediate)

Description

The Living Experiment is an enemy that appears in Intermediate and Mid Rank PVP Test modes. It has a high amount of health, a below average speed and a decent amount of defense. Additionally, when it first spawns, it is a boss enemy, making it fully or partially immune to multiple forms of stalling. On some waves, it also spawns with various immunities, making it harder to kill.

Due to a bug, Living Experiments with the Slime attribute do not spawn the Slime upon death.

Appearance

The Living Experiment is a large humanoid with a waist, lower arms and lower legs in its rig. It has a light green skin color, and wears a tattered light blue hospital gown with a stitched seam going down the back, white bandages wrapped across its torso and metal plating with a glowing green piston on its back.

It has a thin right arm with an armband with chains on it, as well as a large bionic arm with multiple glowing green pistons and a green glass container. It also has a large metal neck-guard with glowing green parts, as well as glowing green eyes, patches of black hair and a metal device with green lights and light brown stitch lines surrounding it on its head.

It has a death animation, where it falls forward, with its bionic arm completely detaching in the process. The death animation is also accompanied by a sound, consisting of it grunting and metal thumping noises.

Strategy

  • High DPS, like the Minigunner, Military Base or Accelerator are recommended against this.
  • On its debut wave, the Living Experiment is surrounded by a hordes of Armored and Skeleton, which can be incredibly problematic.
    • Crowd control towers like the Pyromancer, Rocketeer, or Mortar can excel at clearing out the hordes, allowing DPS towers to focus on the Living Experiment itself.
  • As the Living Experiment has defense, you can use splash towers like the Rocketeer or Mortar to deal with this.
    • They can also be useful at clearing out the hordes of enemies that appear alongside it.
  • Defense dropping towers, like the Pyromancer or Freezer can be used to reduce its defense, allowing your towers to deal more damage to it.
