Golden Mode was previously removed on the 29th of October 2020, though it has been made available through the Sandbox mode later.
It is not accessible anywhere else in the game. This page will attempt to include information about both the version before removal and its re-added version.
Description
Golden mode, internally referred to as Hard which is also its former name, was one of the four main survival modes. It is currently playable again through Sandbox mode, though it is quite different from its original version. Golden mode has 40 waves. It was named after its final boss, the Gold Titan.
The Legacy modifier is active on this map. It makes it so that any modern enemy spawned in is replaced by its legacy variant.
In this mode, shared cash was 35% (for example if someone else damaged an enemy by 10 health, you would receive $4). In the Sandbox recreation, it uses the new income system, though as the enemies have no set up cash values, they all give
$5 on death. Cash is only gained if an enemy is killed, or in some cases, damaged by a specific amount of health. Additionally, the amount gained is a set amount of cash, which is not always equal to the enemy's health. In solo, you receive 100% of the cash when an enemy is killed, or it is damaged enough. With each additional player, this decreases by 25%, which means that in a quad, you only get 25% of the cash. This amount is distributed between players based on how much damage they dealt. However, if a player has not dealt any damage, they will receive a percentage of the enemy's full cash upon its death or when it was damaged enough, which is 12.5% in duo, 16.7% in trio and 18.75% in quad. If it is a decimal, it gets rounded up or down depending on the decimal value. If it is at least 0.5, it gets rounded up. If it is less than 0.5, it gets rounded down. For example, the Abnormal gives
$5 when killed in solo,
$3.75 in duo, rounded up to
$4,
$2.5 in trio, rounded up to
$3 and
$1.25 in quad, rounded down to
$1 between the players that damaged it. Players that did not damage it receive
$0.625 in duo, rounded up to
$1,
$0.835 in trio, rounded up to
$1 and
$0.9375 in quad, rounded up to
$1.
Rewards
The game calculated how much Coins and
EXP you received based on how many waves you survived and if you won a match. During periods of 50% more
EXP (08:00 UTC Friday – 08:00 UTC Sunday), any
EXP earned was multiplied by 1.5x.
Any rewards that end in a decimal point was rounded down, no matter the first figure of the leading decimal.
In Sandbox mode, there are no rewards.

Wave Structure
In Sandbox mode, Golden mode has multiple formulas for calculating the wave bonus. Between Waves 1-10 and between Waves 30-40:

The wave clear bonus appears when every enemy from that wave was killed. It is 35% of the wave bonus in solo, while for duo, trio and quad it is 20%.
When it was originally in the game, the formula for calculating wave bonus on each wave was:
