"Still alive???
Incoming mysterious enemies!"

―Beginning of Wave 16 (Golden & Fallen)

Description

The Ultra Mystery was a mysterious enemy that was quite fast, being slightly slower than the Ninja, and it also had average health for its debut. It could be quite dangerous considering that, upon its death, it spawned a random enemy.

The Ultra Mystery spawned either the Abnormal, Quick, Heavy, Ninja, or Abnormal Boss upon its death.

In Polluted Wasteland, it spawned the Radioactive instead of the Heavy and the Wasted Boss instead of the Abnormal Boss.

The Ultra Mystery used to appear in Golden and Fallen modes. It has since been replaced by the Mystery.

Appearance

The Ultra Mystery was a translucent, glossy yellow enemy with a glowing white question mark on its torso. It had a drooling zombie face and white glowing eyes.

Strategy

  • Like other mystery enemies, you should prepare to deal with the enemies that spawn from the Ultra Mystery, especially the Ninja and Abnormal Boss.
  • The Holiday Archer helps the most against the Ultra Mystery, as they can kill multiple enemies, so long they are in a straight line.
  • The Gladiator can hit the Ultra Mystery and the enemy they spawn if it is lucky enough.
  • The enemies that spawn from the Ultra Mystery do not need to be killed for wave progression to occur.
    • Due to this, if you are speedrunning a map, you should focus on killing the Ultra Mysteries first before moving onto the enemies that spawn.
  • Splash damage towers, like the Demoman, Mortar and Rocketeer, can clear out hordes of Ultra Mysteries relatively quickly.
  • If there are some Ultra Mysteries at the end of the path with low health, do not kill them as they may turn into Abnormal Bosses, doing considerably more damage to the base.

Trivia

  • The Ultra Mystery had a similar appearance to the second version of the Mystery 2.
  • The question mark on the Ultra Mystery is a re-textured version of the Question Mark accessory from the Roblox catalog.
