Sandbox Only Content

P3NGU was previously removed from the game on the 28th of May 2022 as it was part of the Duck Hunt Event, though it has been made available through the Sandbox mode.
It is not accessible anywhere else in the game, aside from in Sandbox Mode. This page will attempt to include information about both the version before removal and its re-added version.

"Unknown flying object inbound!!
P3NGU?!? Watch out for his deadly laser attacks!"

Commander dialogue on Wave 10 (D00M's Revenge)

Description

P3NGU was an enemy that appeared exclusively in D00M's Revenge as part of the Duck Hunt Event. It had a very high amount of health compared to all other enemies in the event except Ducky D00M, and a slightly slow speed. It spawned in the sky, falling down onto one of the plots, during which it was a flying enemy, which meant towers needed flying detection to attack it. It lost its flying immunity after it landed. Unlike most other enemies in D00M's Revenge, it did not head to the exit, but instead walked on the plots. Beyond wave 20, its health would increase over time.

P3NGU had one ability, Beak-A-Beam. The ability made it scream and fire a red laser from its beak at towers, which stunned any towers hit. Uniquely, most of the time, P3NGU could not decrease your base health. Rather, it stunned your towers so other enemies would have an easier time getting to the exit. This was not the case if it spawned on wave ???, where it would act like any other enemy and head directly to the exit.

Three P3NGUs were spawned by Ducky D00M after it initiated its Rage Mode ability.

Appearance

P3NGU was a giant penguin covered in metal armor. Its torso and wings were black, and the front of its torso was white. Its legs, feet, lower torso, chest, face, upper arms, head and beak were covered in grey metal armor, which in turn have multiple screws and bolts on them. It also had rocket boosters built into its feet. In its beak, there was a laser that could fire a red laser which stunned towers. Its eyes and the inside of its beak were neon orange. When spawning, it slowly descended from the sky, with rocket boosters at its feet slowing its descent.

Strategy

  • While P3NGU cannot damage your base health, it can stun your towers, allowing other enemies to slip past and enter the exit.
    • This, however, is not the case if it spawns on wave ???.
    • Because of this, the Medic is recommended to cleanse stunned towers.
      • Due to how often P3NGU uses its Beak-A-Beam ability, and that later on multiple P3NGUs spawn, you may need multiple Medics. One sole Medic may not be enough as Beak-A-Beam can be performed more often than a single Medic's ability.
  • High range towers, such as a Level 3 Ranger, can be used to deal with P3NGU, as it can keep P3NGU in its range for longer.
    • You should set your Rangers to Strongest so that they do not attack weaker enemies.
  • High DPS towers like the Minigunner and Accelerator are recommended against this.
    • You can also use the Commander and DJ Booth to boost their firerate and range respectively.
  • The Pursuit can be useful against this, as it cannot be stunned by P3NGU's Beak-A-Beam ability.
    • Do note that the Pursuit might be locked onto other enemies when P3NGU appears.
  • While P3NGU can be slowed down by slowing towers, such as the Sledger, Toxic Gunner and Electroshocker, since it cannot reach the center (outside of wave ???) and that freezing or stunning it cannot stall its Beak-A-Beam ability, doing this has no practical use.

Trivia

  • P3NGU is based on the P3NG-W1N from R2DA.
    • Its Beak-A-Beam ability is also similar to P3NG-W1N's Beak Beam.
  • The name P3NGU is similar to the TV show name Pingu, originally broadcast for Swiss television, then later British television.
  • When P3NGU was first shown on Paradoxum Games Twitter, it was called P3NGWIN instead of P3NGU.
  • If you are on wave ??? for about half an hour, the game will begin to only spawn P3NGUs. Rather than them landing on the plots and walking on them, they will act like every other enemy, spawning in the outer area and heading to the exit. You are guaranteed to lose when this happens due to their high health and numbers, so it is pointless to try to defend.
    • This is the only time where P3NGU can damage the base.
  • Its Beak-A-Beam ability's hitbox is slightly shorter than what the laser displays.
  • Sometimes when P3NGU spawned, it could not be attacked by any tower until it landed, even if they had flying detection. Additionally, P3NGU at times could spawn without flying immunity, only gaining it shortly after spawning, which allowed towers without flying detection to attack it.
