Before the Gate Rune Wars, Maas studied under Master blacksmith Mace. When Mace went into seclusion, Maas went to the Great Forest Kobold Village to work on his skills. It was there he met Tir and offered his services to the Liberation Army. When the war ended, Maas was still dissatisfied with his work, and returned to his studies.
