Anji was a leader of Lake Toran Pirates, a group that who engaged in smuggling operations and caused havoc on Lake Toran. Originally an ordinary ship merchant, he turned against the oppressive Imperial forces and became a lake pirate, attacking Imperial ships along with Kanak and Leonardo. This led to intense hostilities with the Imperial Navy, particularly with Sonya Shulen, the head of the navy, with whom he had a fierce rivalry. At some point he also became acquainted with Tai Ho.
Appearance
Anji have Kaki hairs (rendered as brown on his character portrait). He wears a blue coat and a blue bandana. He also wears a white and blue tunic.

Anji joined the Liberation Army after being defeated in a battle against Tir, Tai Ho, and Yam Koo, who had raided the lake pirates' stronghold. During the battle, Tai Ho taunted him, saying, "Stop smoldering as a lake pirate forever," which prompted his decision to join the Liberation Army. Having survived numerous life-threatening encounters with the Imperial forces, he and his group became a valuable lake pirate team. After the war, they planned to make a fortune by using their ships for trade.
After the castle is level 3 or higher, take Tai Ho and Yam Koo in a party to the Pirate's Hideout. Defeat the 3 pirates within 5 rounds to recruit them.
The kidnapping of the girls event only appears in the Sega Saturn version of the game.
There is a glitch where you can talk to Anji in your castle, even if you haven't recruited him. If you try to talk to the space he would normally stand in, his text box and portrait will appear.
